It's evil. I have no idea why I didn't destroy it as soon as I laid eyes on it. Whatever in here radiates an aura of malice. It is powerful- I can feel it humming with force. It is a beautiful egg. I just don't know why something so pretty can be truly evil like this egg here.

Day One

The day I developed the photographs of the Northern Lights, I noticed something strange in the negatives. A shadow? Yes, it was a shadow, but strangely enough, somehow the shadow was eagerly sniffing my muddy tennis shoes in the picture.

I looked at the other negetives. Again, the strange forms appeared, each one engaged in an act of curiousity. One was busily rearranging the contents of my tent, and yet another was absorbed in the task of gnawing the pages of my record journal out.

Indeed, these events happened, but I had attributed them to chipmunks and the likes.

Amazed, the next year, I returned to Cananda, armed with the local pet store's entire selection of pet toys, which I laid out.

I spent the great portion of the day sitting there in the cold with a video tape and camera, and catching nothing, until the Northern Lights appeared.

I quickly grabbed the negetives, and there they were! The forms had returned!

You can imagine my amazement, for in my etcasy, I accidently cried, "Oh my!"

At that moment, shapes began to take form in front of me....

They were a most curious race. I would say that they were a little bit like a wolf, a bit like a fox, somewhat like a bird, and with the tail of an angelic squirrel.

They had somehow hidden from my plain view until I had acknowledged their existence!

Day Two

These creatures are a most gentle, curious and playful race. I assume that these are the juveniles, for their puppy-like antics have inspired me to call them "Children." I have spent the entire day playing with these creatures and taking photos. They attempt to get into every crevice of my tent, all of them at once. As you can imagine, this has lead to the collapse of my shelter multiple times.

Day Three

That night, while playing with an especially rambunctious Child under the Northern Light, something very strange happened.

The lights flared out so brilliantly that I was forced off my seat and into a fetal position protecting my eyes.

When the light had subsided to a bearable degree, I was face-to-face with the most beautiful and majestic creature I had ever seen! This strange being was definitely the adult of the species, possibly the mother of these Children.

Her eyes gleamed with the incandescent of the Lights themselves, and I discovered that although they were of fur and flesh, these Children and their mother were also of the light.

She leaned down and breathed on me. Instantly, these words formed in my mind: "HUMAN."

The basics:

1. No stealing art. Doing so will result in obvious consequences.
2. No abusing the Children. Doing so will cause them to run away without leaving a note, reciept, or anything.
3. If I ask for a Child back from you for breaking the rules, you will return it and delete it off of every single data entry you have.
4. Don't just leave once you get your Child! Post at least once a month. If you are an especially good RPer, you will get a chance to have special toys and stuff.
5. Be literate!
6. No begging.
7. Eggs are availible through Flatsales, Special Events, Pet Trades, and Custom.
8. Customs are always availible.

What the heck? It's an egg! Mako, what the heck?
Relax. I'm not cheating you. This is the egg stage of the Children of the Northern Lights. It will hatch soon, if you take care of it.

CARE OF EGGS

There are three things that you need to do to care for your egg.

In the Northern Lights, the parent would like it clean often. Since your tongue cannot stand the cold of the egg, I suggest that you use the Cloud provided. User Image

Then, you have to turn it. That's simple enough, but remember to wear gloves. I am not responsible for frostbite. The final thing is play a song to it. In the Northern Lights, the parents sing to the child. Since we are not of the Lights, we must use the flute. User Image

This cycle must be repeated each day. ((In egg state, a Day is those three posts.))

For the first step, Post "Use Item: Cloud"

In a separate post after that, Post, "Turn the Egg"

After that, ((SEPARATE POST!)) "Sing to the Egg."

And there, that is an Egg Day.

It takes anywhere from five to twenty Egg Days for the Egg to Hatch into the Next Stage. (Actually depending on how fast I can finish your Baby!)

BABY

Congratulations! The hard work of taking care of the egg has paid off, and your Child has hatched into this lovely baby seen here. ((This one is a Fire Element Child.))

Often times you will just need to interact with them, not necessarily using an item, although they are recommended. Chew toys are good- they're teething now. Stuffed toys and the such are also great for Babies.

At this stage, it is crucial to have contact with the parent, which is you. Even though the baby will mostly sleep right now, it is developing quickly.

At this stage, toys are not that important, but you must play the flute to the Child. Now the Days, instead of like the Egg Days, are just real-time days. Play with your Child and keep it healthy and happy! They are capable of hovering short distances.

CHILD

Ah, the terrible twos. Your baby has grown into a child Child now. It will be curious and prone to disaster. Again, this is real time, and the games begin!

You can use any play item with your Child now. Chewrings are good, so are duckies, teddy bears, balls, etc.etc.

You child will need lots of playthings and the such. You will also need to play with them lots by rolling a 12-sided dice. But they are just beginning to master mobility, and if you hit a six, your child has tripped and recieved a boo-boo! Purchase a band aid User Image

Breeding Basics

1. For one thing, in order to breed, two Aurorians MUST
a. Have a Relationship (Relationships are RPed over a period of time.
b. Be of opposite genders. (No, I have NOTHING against homosexuality, but this just makes it easier on my brain.)
c. Be Adult

2. Each mating will produce one or two Child(ren), and the Parents must find a human caretaker for the egg.
3. I must approve of the new Parent. (My standards will be more leniant) I won't have some average Joe off the streets caring for a Child!
4. A breeding will cost 1.5k from each parent for a Grand Total of 3k.
5. NO selling the children without my permission. It's okay to charge a fee for the adoptee of the new Child.
6. ME and mostly ONLY ME will decide what comes out.
7. For one thing, two Normal Parents aren't going to suddenly produce a Demonic, Angelic, or Etheral etc.
8. If you breed a Fire Elemental with an Ice Elemetal, you're NOT going to get something weird like a Burnt Ice Elemental. Don't worry! I understand you're paying good gold for this.
9. Items like tattoos or necklaces are not heredity. If that was embedded in your Child's DNA, we have a problem. However, wings ARE inheirtiable by chance.

Heredity

Attention class! This is Professor Mako Streak and your lesson on Aurorian Genetics.

Obviously, a Normal parent and a Normal parent will produce a Normal Child.

But what about say... A Normal parent and an Etheral parent?

An Etheral Child? Probably not.

Chances are, that will produce a Normal Child with some Etheral Attributes, ie. the tail-tails, the super-cool-customized lineart (Currently not shown, as none are Adults yet) to a lesser degree.

Two parents of exactly the same type- DemonicxDemonic, AngelicxAngelic, EtheralxEtheral, will ALWAYS produce a Child of the SAME TYPE. A breeding between Etherals guarantees another Etheral.

Elementals, however, are trickier. WaterxWater will give you water, obviously, etc. However... What about Air and Earth or something really weird, like.. Er.... Ice and Earth?

Well, just leave it to the geneticist (me) to find a common ground between the two.

FAMILIARS FOR CHILDREN!

Hoorah! I've run into a problem though. I'm flat out of creative ideas.

Please, send me some ideas for Familiars.

There are Six different classes (and a few BIG HONKIN' subgroups). Custom Familiars aren't classified in here because they might come in any class.

Class One- The Thas, AKA FLOOZIES! These are the adorable, pet-like Familiars that are availible to anyone. They're the smallest of the Familiars.

Class Two- The Thas-Rin, AKA Souped-up Floozies- These are more powerful and intelligent floozies. Availible to anyone.

Class Three- The Thas-Kin, AKA Super Floozies. The most poweful and most intelligent Floozies. Still Availible to anyone.

Class Four- The Erithu- The Elemental Familiars. These are availble to Normal Children with an Elemental Alignment, Elementals and Up. The subgroups are one for each element, ie. Fire Children have the option of Erithu-Kai, the Fire Familiars, but not the Erithu-Mizu, the Water Familiars.

Class Five- the Lyran Familiars. These are the Familiars of the Demonic and Angelic Children. There are two subgroups, Hazren and Shiren.

Hazren- the Demonic Familiars. They are every bit as dark, blood-thirsty, and evil as the Demonic Children. Not recommended for the faint-of-heart.

Shiren- The Angelic Familiars. Everything with your stereotypical angel, plus an extra helping of love, kindness, and evilass-kicking magic into one compact Familiar.

Class Six- The Evanesct Familiars. Only availible to Etherals. These are the most powerful and intelligent Familiars existing. They can be even larger than a teenage Aurorian. They can speak all languages that the Child can speak and have power almost equal to a Fully-Grown Etheral. Needless to say, they make a deadly duo.

These cuddly creatures are like puppies, cute and loyal. They rarely get angry, only fusterated. They are extremely fast and agile and have the body structure of a chinchilla. They are really hard to catch, but trained properly, they will heed your commands. Although they are not very smart, they are curious and often beg for treats. They also spook easily and are fragile. Beware, they chew on everything.

Eats: Plants, hay, alfalfa, and other fruits and veggies.

Byrd

These are a bit smarter than Pichis. They can see more colors than the human eye can identify. Often, they have bright plumage and metallic-looking beak. They can't fly fast, but they are durable- if tired during flight, they will just go to sleep, even if that means falling. They can patiently withstand anything a young Child can throw their way.

Eats: Fruits and seeds

Yazoo

These are puffballs- cute, adorable, squeaky, but not very fast. Their tail, however, can whip around faster than the eye can track, and a properly whipping tail can cause welts on bare skin. To compensate for their lack of limbs, they are incredibly bouncy. They have no skeleton structure, rather flexible cartiledge.

Eats: Bits of meat, bits of lint, bits of anything.

Cat-Muffin

Meow. Don't ask. They move by rolling around. DO NOT EAT>

Class Two Floozies

This adorable Familiar is the sweetest of all. They will ask to be pet and come unheeded. They are loyal and gentle and love Children and people alike. This is a highly sociable creature and quite high-attention required, but with such a wonderful pet, it will be hard for your Child to give it less than 100% of their attention.

Eats: Hay, Grass, Veggies, Fruits, etc. They LOVE bananas.

Bottom: Siiii

This is a snake-like Familiar. They normally sleep at day and hunt at night. They are capable of eating baby Class One Floozies. Be careful. They can fit into small places but beware, they WILL help your Child get into trouble.

Eats: Meat alone

This is the Vulwyn, a Lyran-Hazren, or Demonic Familiar.

Just look at it. It's vile, it's ugly, it's bald and bony, it's skeletal and nasty.

Yep. This pet is great for Demonic Children because of it's scary and skeletal appearance and blood thirst. They WILL eat anything that's dead, and if they prey is not dead, they WILL NOT hesistate to make it dead. They huge claws are used for carrying off larger carrion. This vulture-like beast is highly feral and solitary. They will stick with the Child because of the prey they provide.

Okay, so there's this mood system, and it's like "OMG, im a mood system!"

Maybe not.

The Mood system starts with a hatched Child. (The Egg has a different Care system)

Anyways, let's use Orion (SSbrosM) as an example....

Here you can see the Mood Gem circled in a pretty pink.

Whenever you interact with your Child, he/she gets happier, filling up the mood meter!

In this case, the Parent has been very good about playing with her Child.

And the blue filling indicates that- it's filled to the top. Not to say that you can't save some 'Mood Points' for later.

If the Mood is completely blue, you're good.

BLUE = GOOD

But on the otherhand, if your Mood Gem looks like this.....

Then we gotta have a little talk. This could possibly be because your Child is hurt, neglected, or etc.

Not only that, your Child..

crying Might run away without leaving a note, message, or a receipt of any kind, other than the Cert being... Altered.

crying Will NOT be happy.

crying Will NOT be able to breed.

crying Might NOT be your Child anymore.

Now, for the good stuff...

How do you keep your Child happy?

Simple.

I. Interact with him/her in this main thread, like this...

Here Zarmina demonstrates two types of playing with your Child- the first type is interacting with the dice, needed to make your Child grow up, and the second, Interaction, which makes your Child happy.

Note that they each serve different purposes.

Or...

RP with your Child! The main thread is linked in the first post. RPing has the same effect as BOTH of those- they will make your Child grow AND keep them happy and healthy!

Plus RPers get perks.. Mmmm. Delicious perks.

As you can clearly see, not only the ordinary Children inhabit the skies... Out of the elements, more were created. These manifestions of nature and physics take on special forms and shapes.

These are called Elementals.

There are many types, Fire, Water, Air, Dream, Earth! Many types! They are special in the way that they are actually embodiments of the element.

Unlike popular belief, Fire Children cannot control and create fire like your mages in fantasy worlds. Fire does not control fire. Water does not control water.

What they can do is manipulate extenstions of themselves...

These fiery souls are wild by nature and tempermental. They make excellent warriors in defending the skies and forests, but they can hurt their own side along with the 'enemy.'

Water (Aquatic)

These beautiful souls are full of flowing grace. Easily the most graceful of the Children, they shimmer and are quite beautiful to look at. They are the exact temper opposites of their Fire siblings- calm, collected, reserved.
