There exists a land known as The Lamp Forest, which used to be terrorized by hunters and slavers. People captured the lamps and forced them to perform ridiculously difficult and exhausting tasks, such as bottling linoleum for days on end. The lamps were also hunted for their prized shades and bulbs. Fortunately, a mysterious organization known only as "The College" came in and abolished lamp slavery.

Many poachers still tried to illegally infiltrate the forest in order to capture and kill lamps. The College is located on the far outskirts of the Lamp Forest, so they set up the Light Fixture Liberation Front (LFLF or "La Fluff" wink at the heart of the forest. La Fluff helps protect the lamps and also conducts scientific research on their nature.

La Fluff decided to try to provide the poor orphaned lamps and light bulbs with worthy care takers and, today, this is the primary function of the outpost.

Over time, the lamp caretakers discovered an interesting phenomena: when the lamps form a strong bond with a human being, they seem to gain some sort of spiritual energy and metamorphose into humanoid creatures -- "half-lamp/half-human."

General Rules

10. All lamps are male. You may give them female names and call them "she," but this will not make their physical structure any different.

Buying Rules

2. Please check to see if any free flatsale spots are open before attempting to buy one! If they're closed, I will ignore your post!

4. Your must complete the trade first before I send you the art.

6. When you see that there is an open spot on the waiting list, post in this thread your desire to purchase a pet. Please include the following in your post:
-Role play walking through the forest, finding the La Fluff station, and choosing a pet light bulb.
-Please specify the species of your light bulb and what name you wish to give it. (A list of current species is available in the Pricing post.)
-If approved, I will respond to you with an NPC role play post.
-You may then send the trade.
7. Sometimes I'll be offering premades for sale. In that case, you still have to RP picking them out and naming them, but you don't have to come up with the species name.

Stage 1: Lamps start out as light bulbs. Light bulbs function in much the same way eggs do. Keep them warm and comfortable and soon they'll hatch into lamps!

Stage 2: Lamps are quiet, yet intelligent creatures. They can move by hopping around and some species can fly.

Stage 3: If the bond you share with your lamp is strong enough, it'll undergo a metamorphosis into a childlike lamp humanoid. Caring for them is similar to caring for a human child, except without the dental hassle.

Stage 4: Eventually, these children will grow up and, by then, you'll have a splendid half-lamp/half-human companion!

Stage 5: The mysterious beings known as "Lamp Deities." At this stage, your lamp creature has reached enLIGHTenment and is rumored to look very majestic. Not much is truly known about this stage.

Breeding___________________________________________

These pets can breed in the lamp stage (stage 2) and the lamp person stage ( stage 4). During stage 2, they can only breed with other lamps, but in stage 4 they can breed with even you and your other humanoid pets!

In order to get a breeding slot, you must role play (more than just a few short posts!) a relationship with your lamp creature and their partner (no sexual details, of course!)

Afterwards, if you see that a breeding slot is open, you may send a trade and then RP the "pregnancy" period for a bit until the new light bulb baby pet is drawn!

Here is how breeding works for lamps. Each has a light bulb. When the light bulb is fertilized, the lamp is "pregnant" for a while and then the bulb is released. A new, unfertilized light bulb takes its place. In the 2nd stage, only another lamp may fertilize the bulb.

In the 4th stage, the bulb under their lampshade "hats" is still what gets fertilized. It turns into a light bulb egg the same way.

Anyway, there are no breeding slots at the moment, as there are no stage 2 pets.
