Welcome to a world where Gods are real. They are a part of everyday life, and heavily influence those they choose to show special favor toward. These special ones are the Chosen. From a young age, they are selected by one of the Younger Gods of Styricum - they who sealed away their cruel Elders in ancient times.

Here, you will have a chance to play as one of these Chosen, and the God who chose them ... so welcome, and enjoy your stay.

The Sparhawk books, by David Eddings. I stole pieces of his world, but by no means do I claim it as my own. It's influenced by, but definitely different from the original.

It is a world where the Younger Gods reign supreme...they are not always liked or welcomed by their older cousins, but they are influential all the same. There are a thousand of them...each with their own element...and they are discovering that perhaps more...yes, still more of them will emerge to choose their Chosen.

Having banished or sealed away the elder gods...this Earth is theirs...and now they must once more become influential among the peoples of this place.

This is done by acquiring a chosen, someone whose life they will guide and influence. They extend the life of these...and train them in the way that the god or goddess sees fit for them to go...

It is in this time...that there is the greatest opportunity...and the greatest chaos...

Will you become a part of it?

.General Information.

.The Stages.
There are six possible stages for the followers…and the stages for the deities themselves vary.

The first stage :: Item of Blessing

The only character you can really RP in this stage is your god/goddess. This will be the time when the selection is made…from which race their chosen will be…whether it be male or female…their appearance…essentially…these deities have the pick of the crop…what matters to them: Personality, looks, certain skills in their destiny…that is entirely up to you as the RPer. Once the item of blessing is bestowed upon a child, then the next stage is soon to begin. The item might be anything, but it is usually an article of jewelry.

The second stage :: Child (( approximately ages 8-12))

Well well well…what have we here? The deity has now chosen their follower and begun the subtle coaching that will ease them into their future as the loyal and faithful ally and worshipper of the god/goddess as well as the influence of their particular domain. Most gods will only talk mentally to their ‘children’, but a very select few will actually manifest themselves at this stage and take personal charge of their chosen’s lives.

The third stage :: Adolescent (( 13-18 ))

Oh dear god… the teenage years…at this point, the spiritual bond between deity and chosen will be stronger, and the growing youngster will now be able to see the source of that voice that has been talking to him or her all this time. However, they will be insubstantial, and for the most part, the chosen will be the only one who can see their god or goddess. But now the teen will begin to learn spells by which they can call on their deity and request their assistance. All spells must mentally (and audibly, if spoken) be in Styric, so that’s an essential part of their education. The deity may choose not to answer the spell, if they do not deem it fit…it isn’t like magic of other worlds. Sorry kids, but you’d better be in good favor with your deity if you want to save your skin.

It is in this period that in dreams your chosen might be yanked into the realm of the gods for further instruction, and perhaps even meet the chosen of other deities there that they might not otherwise.

The fourth stage :: Adult

Now the chosen has reached adulthood…but their spiritual maturity has a ways to go yet. Still but a student, they are now delving even further into the skills that are particular to the domain of their deity. The deity will more than likely, if they haven’t before, manifest on an almost regular basis and become even more of a mentor…and even…a friend to their chosen. The relationship is always personal…occasionally intimate, and always an adventure. The god/goddess has always been able to read their chosen’s mind…but now the chosen can, to some extent, tell the mind of their god as well…though they might not realize that they have this ability until they reach the next stage. They have truly begun to reflect their deity and their domain in their actions and appearance by now.

The fifth stage :: Priest/Priestess/Paladin

Ah…the fifth and often final stage for your Chosen. They wield magic flawlessly…they have become an expert in their domain and renowned among their peers. Able to talk to their god/goddess at any time and rarely refused a spell or request…they have become all that their deity (and you, of course), have molded them into.

The sixth stage :: Deus (Optional)

This stage can only be reached one of three ways. The first…it can be reached by faithful and intense RP, but you will always be asked before this happens. The second, by bribing me when you initially receive the Item of Blessing (this is primarily for customs and bribes), and third, if I think you deserve it. Yes. I might just give it at random…I am the ultimate goddess in this place. XD

What this stage is…is a melding of soul and a connecting of minds. Your Chosen will now effectively become immortal and sprout a pair of great wings from their shoulders…these wings will be, again, an embodiment of their element. ( For instance, the God of Rogues will have a pair entirely comprised of blades, and the God of Water will have water-like, semi-transparent wings)The Deity will in essence join with their Chosen…and the Chosen will wield the power of their god or goddess at will.

.Setting.
The setting is ancient…akin to medieval times…kings and queens rule the lands…save in Sarsos…the city of Styrics…where a repressed race can thrive instead of hide from the racism of the nations about them.

There dwells the council…the Thousand…they call them.

Each serves their own deity..the Younger Gods…who sealed away their cruel and domineering Elders in the early ages of the world.

The Younger Gods themselves influence heavily their particular representative…from the time they are born they are destined to portray everything that their god or goddess is. Others around them may or may not know it…and the deity may not choose to visibly manifest themselves to their follower until later in the life of their future priest/priestess/or paladin.

.Races.
The majority of these chosen will be Styric…but this is not always the case. There are a few rare exceptions to the case…chosen from other races…the races are as following ::

Elene :: A culture that very much resembles medieval England…as do its people…Knight, Kings, Queens, and of course…the Church of Chyrellos itself…which has a very Catholic-like mindset.

Tamul :: As the name sounds…this culture is like a strange hybrid of India and China…darker-skinned (sometimes called ‘yellow’ even), they are a rich culture…where loyalty to the emperor has almost replaced their religion…and the caste system is rather rigidly in effect.

Atan :: A race of golden-skinned giants…usually standing seven feet in height at average…both males and females are warriors…in fact…their culture was so warlike that they willingly submitted themselves to the Tamuli in order to prevent racial exctinction due to feuds amongst themselves. They are effectively the army of Tamul.

Thalesia :: An almost Nordic culture…there are ogres and all sorts of strange creatures in this land that is full of mountains and lush valleys. The majority of the people are fair-haired and blue-eyed with a fierce loyalty to their country. Many brave and honorable people have come from this race.

Peloi :: A nomadic culture comprised of a people who roam the plains in tents. They make their living as raiders and deal heavily in the buying and selling and raising of horses. There are many odd customs associated with the Peloi…but they are well-mannered enough…if one can afford to pay them.

There are more races to come…some of them will mostly be your opposition…and there will naturally be rogue Styrics…who ally themselves with deities of a less genteel disposition than the majority of the Younger Gods.

The Styrics :: The Styrics are not a universally loved race. Disliked by almost everyone because they practice magic and are seen as ‘heathens’ especially by the Elenes and the Church of Chyrellos. To try and dispel this racial hatred, the Styric communities in Elenia are impoverished, with their occupants posing as the poorest of the poor and maintaining a façade of utter humility.

In Sarsos, however, the Styrics thrive…they wear bright colors and silks instead of rough homespun and laugh and freely celebrate their holidays and rituals. This is the true nature of the Styric race…and it is one that irks even the most open-minded Elene…even those who have a true love for the people of Styricum.

(( And if you are familiar with the books and the other races and want to do a write-up for them by all means, do so and send them to me and I will love you forever <333 ))

There have been a few instances where Elenes were directly influenced by Styric Gods…and even Dolmant…the Archprelate of the Church itself…is well aware that his God is not the only one…and in fact has met at least two of the Styric gods…the child-goddess Aphrael and her cousin Setras.

.Growth Requirements.
These are not strictly RP-required. However, if you want your pet to grow with some regularity and not whenever the colorists/artists get the chance, then there will be a set, but reasonable set of 'requirements' for each stage. And the option of the last stage as well. ;3

Still tweaking a bit, but this is what we've come up with thus far:

Item of Blessing ---> Child
-Journal set up
-Backstory for god and child
-RP of Choosing of the child
-Growth prompt

Child ---> Adolescent
-At least two journal entries
-At least two RPs (private or public)
-Growth prompt

Adolescent ---> Adult
-At least three journals
-At least six RPs
-Growth prompt

Adult ---> Priest/Priestess/Paladin
-At least five journals
-At least eight RPs
-Growth prompt

Priest/Priestess/Paladin ---> Deus
Utterly unknown as of yet. XD

Speed-based :: There probably won't be many of these. Basically whoever posts the fastest will get one.

Prompt-based :: The most common type of sale - there will be a prompt or prompts posted and participants must answer them. Judges will choose the best ones to get a character.
