Welcome to Lalaith Grotto! Here we sell adorable Lalaiths to caring new owners.

This store is owned and run by RavensFolly and Kuune, who were married here on Gaia on January 17th, 2005- so it's a bit of a husband/wife business venture.

Kuune does all the art, while I manage the shop itself and all proceeds are split 50/50.

But you're probably wondering more about the Lalaiths. They are an odd species, very friendly and sociable and come in several different types. All of this will be discussed in more detail in following posts.

<center>READ THESE RULES- they are important. Failure to follow them will result in being blacklisted.</center>
1. Prices are not negotiable! Lalaiths take a lot of work to draw and colour. If you don't like the price, find something else.
2. Do not ask for a Lalaith if there are none for sale. Begging is especially reviled, so don't try it.
3. You can buy a Lalaith for a friend, but if you sell one that is theft and will be reported.
4. Do not steal our art. Time and effort goes into our work, and it's just not as fun if the Lalaith doesn't have a name on it, or doesn't evolve.
5. Be respectful to everyone in this thread.
6. Do not buy a Lalaith if you do not have the time to care for it!
7. Do not complain if it takes a few days to get your Lalaith with all of your information on it. If you make a fuss, we'll sell it to someone else.

Many, many years ago there was a race of Elves in Gaia. They built many beautiful buildings, created many amazing works of art and literature, and bred cute, friendly pets. Most of the Elves are hidden now, as is what is left of their culture.

However, some of their pets remain. These are the Lalaiths. Lalaith is the Elvish word for Laughter, and indeed these pets live up to their name, bringing joy and companionship to their owners.

They are a rare race, and come in several different breeds, each unique, beautiful and cute. They are neither male nor female, but if they stay healthy for their entire lifetime, they die and become an egg- not always of the same sort they were before.

<center>~*Caring For a Lalaith*~</center>

Lalaiths are very friendly, sociable animals. As such, they cannot be left on their own too long without interaction with their owner or friends or they get lonely and sick. If you own a Lalaith, try to make a commitment to play with it every day, at least for a little while. If for some reason you are going to be away for a few days, leave your Lalaith with a trusted friend (and let us know so we know it's still being cared for) until you can come back. If you Lalaith has been neglected and gets sick, you need to take care of it immediately with medicine!

<center>~*Buying a Lalaith*~</center>

<center>1. Check to make sure there are some Lalaith up for sale
2. Make sure no one else has already gotten the Lalaith you want
3. Post in this thread with the order form
4. Start the trade for the amount
5. Be gracious if someone got there before you did
7. Be patient- it might take a few days to get your Lalaith to you with all of your information on it.
8. Care for your Lalaith in the RP

~*Reserving a Lalaith*~

We've had a few people ask to reserve Lalaith's. For now, we will allow it. However, if you have a Lalaith on reserve, please post in the thread at least once a day with how much gold you have towards it, so we know you're still interested. Also, if you do not buy in a week, we will take it off reservation and try selling it to someone who will pay, ~and you will be blacklisted~.</center>

<center>Every Lalaith goes through four stages of life- egg, youth, adult and elder. Each stage lasts a varying amount of time and in each stage the care of your pet is equally important.

A healthy young Lalaith will look like this if the egg has been well cared for:</center>

<center>However, if the egg has not been cared for well, it will come out looking much more pathetic, and will not be as playful:</center>

<center>And so it goes through each stage of life. If, at the end of its life, the Lalaith is happy and healthy, it will die but a new egg will be born and the owner will have the joy of raising a second generation.

But do not fear! If you have a bad few days and aren't able to properly care for your Lalaith and it gets sick, there is a remedy. You can buy a Rescue Pill for it, which will restore it to full health. However, this will only work once, so don't depend on it to keep your Lalaith healthy.

Also, you can determine what sort of Lalaith you want your second generation to be. There are pills for each type, and you can get one when your Lalaith becomes an Elder. If you do not bother with a pill, the second generation will just be the same type as the first.</center>

<center>~Stages of Evolution~</center>
Egg- 5-7 days (the egg hatches faster the more you care for it!)
Child- 1-2 weeks
Adult- 2-3 weeks
Elder- 1-2 weeks

Here is where you play with your Lalaith.

The Grotto is a large, circular opening in the deep woods. Sunlight streams in through the leafy branches, dappling the thick grass. A stream runs along one side, clear and clean. Soft breezes blow through the trees, rustling the leaves and carrying the scent of flowers.

Near the stream is a large outcropping of rock, in which the Lalaith make their homes. Each cave bears the name of the resident Lalaith over it on an elegant silver plaque.</center>
