<center> ~Prologue~

When human imagination and a subconcious mind are combined, dreams are formed. Most people forget what they dream, and these entities are forgotten, left to wander the realm of Nowhere. Every once and a while, however, a dream slips through the barrier and bonds to a chosen human companion. Imagine my surprise when one chose me as a gaurdian.

Entry 1- 02-27-05:

Today started out fairly normal, with nothing really exciting happening in the morning. I had a growing case of the cold, so I wasn't really in the mood to do anything that used energy, and I decided to start drawing. It's a bad habit of mine; I draw without really thinking about it at all. So I was drawing absent-mindedly, when the medicine I had taken began to kick in. Already drowsy, I fell asleep halfway in the middle of my picture. When I awoke, though, I felt that something was different. Not really knowing what it was, I stood up to stretch, when I noticed it.

A small whisp of glowing gold-tan light was floating around me. Surprised, I took a half-step back, and was amazed to see it follow me. It didn't seem malicious, so I decided to let it follow me around. Intriqued, I looked in the many books in the library that was inside my house. I searched through several until I found a promising referance that read:

-"In Nowhere, the daydream of a child can create a world. Yet at the same time, the loss of childhood innocence can bring about Armageddon. As long as there are dreamers, there are dreams. However, even though a person may give up on a dream, that does not mean it fades out of existence. Nay...dreams do not die. They merely become dormant, until another would waken them. "

Thogh the passage gave some startling insight, it also provided a host of questions. Was this a dream that had come from Nowhere? Why was it with me? Where was Nowhere? I was still pondering them when I decided to put them off for tomorrow and search around Gambino in the morning. Perhaps someone in town would have an idea.

So now I'm sitting at my desk with this whisp of light/mist slowly circling me, and I can't help but smile-I've always wanted to remember my dreams, and this is one that I don't think will let me forget.

Lord Changeling

03-23-05:

As Araku would follow Valerian and introduce himself. Something unexpected would happen. The mountain upon which he, and the dreams Araku had just met stood would begin to tremble violently. From high above the mountain rocks began to tumble down like giant marbles tossed over a ridge. The ground beneath Araku would suddenly split wide open and send the unsuspecting Dream tumbleing wildely down a incline. At the end, Araku came to a stop, unharmed but in desperate need for a bath.

~Congradulations, Araku has stumbled upon the Eath Temple. The incline he took a tumble down was in fact a staircase that had been covered by many years of rockslides. The current mountain quake has cleared the tunnel of derbies, and sent Araku rolling down into it's inner sanctum. Though the Earth Temple is dusty, Dark, and in desperate need of cleaning, it is still intact. The Temple is a wide cavern with many intricate pillars covered in runes spread through out it. There is a small inner building with a stone door firmly closed, and the image of a mountain inscribed upon it's face.~

Entry 2- 02-29-05:

I had meant to go to town and investigate any possible answers to the questions I had formed earlier, but I was unable to. My cold rapidly progressed into a moderate case of the flu, so I remained firmly in my bed the entire day, miserable. I was astonished to note, however, that the dream whisp seemed almost worried; it drifted around me quickly, as if anxious.

Today, however, I contacted a good friend of mine and told her about the dream. To my surprise, she had heard of these dreams, and directed me to a shop located off the warm waters of Gambino. Intrested, I kayaked out to the shop. (Not that I don't like saltwater or the ocean, I just prefer not to swim in it.)

In this shop I found the answers I had been searching for. I learned that my whisp would continue to grow and become an Aware dream, with it's own thoughts and personality. I learned much more, far too much to list here.

I returned home much enlightened, the golden whisp following me still. I thought for a while in my room, before deciding upon Araku as a name for the whisp. It seemed happy, floating around me, occasianaly touching me and shending shivers down my spine. It felt like a heavy mist, light and cool.

I can only wonder what will happen later, and I am curious-and excited- as to what to expect.

I was startled out of my sleep this morning by a pair of sharp claws tugging on my arm and an alarmed chirp-whistle. Blearily opening my eyes, I came face-to -face with an agitated whistling Krr'Zn'Tai. Noticing her alarmed state, I sat up to find that the whisp I had been taking care of was gone. Frantically, I searched around the room for it, until a call from Daes showed me to my room, where he was peering over the top of the bookcase. Puzzled, I looked there, and saw that Araku had solidified into a furry, soft creature, eyes tightly shut. His fur was a pale tan, one ear darker than the other. He was curled up, snug inside a lavender blanket. Poking from under the edge of a blanket was a book. I pulled it out carefully, not wanting to startle the sleeping Dream, and glanced at the title.

"Ancient Egyptian Mythology, hmm?" I chuckled. One of my favorites.

I looked around, wondering how he had gotten the blanket, before Dante walked it, gave me his usual look, and commented blandly,

"It woke me up, all glowing and stuff, so I put a blanket on the bookcase to see if it would go to sleep or something. You'll have to wash it-It's probably full of dust now.."

I walked into my house today, just coming home from school, and was intending to get a nap before doing my homework. However, as soon as I walked in, I noticed that something felt different. Not wrong exactly, but different.

Turning into my room, I found out exactly why.

Sitting upon my bookshelf was a sleepy Araku, his lime colored eyes focus on me the moment I stepped in. He was sitting on a book, which again turned out to be the book of Egyptian Mythology. I had forgotten for a moment that when Dreams hit the Awakening stage, they practically absorbed knowlege. I gave him a sidelong glace.

"Like this book, do you?"

Araku mearly looked at me, then the book, then back at me. I grinned, guessing his intent, and sat down on my bed and began to read.

Later, after I had finished the first part of the book, I began to talk. Just about anything. He would watch me with that solem green gaze, absorbing anything and everything that he saw or heard. Where ever I went he would follow, watching me, or one of the others, silently.

I'm currently sitting here writing this, and trying to explain to him the functions of a computer. I'm not quite sure that he understands it yet, but from what I've found out, I'll have plenty of time to explain.

Araku started to talk today. He almost scared Achao out of his fur when he pointed out to the Cat Imp that the stove was hot. Much to my amazement, he also speaks some Spanish and a smattering of Japanese. I really hadn't realized just how much he absorbed the past few days.

Now that he talkes, he is constantly asking questions, particularly about Egypt and old myths. The topic holds a particular facination with him, which is just as well, as I hold the same interest.

He also informed me that he rather enjoys music, particularly a mixture of instrumental, some classical, and a bit of rock, which surprised me.

When he isn't asking questions, he sits and thinks, or reads a book. Currently he is on "Sign of the Qin", and is almost finished. Funnily enough, this too is loaded with mythology, this time Chinese. I still think he prefers Ancient Egyptian Myths, though.

Araku seemed rather...distant today. It was raining, and I found him sitting on a window sill, just contemplating and staring at the downpour. When qustioned, he gave me a small smile, before telling me that he was thinking about going to Nowhere. I wasn't very surprised, and he told me that he had been feeling a kind of longing to back. He was quick to reassure me that he would always come home, but he knew that he needed to go. I was a little worried (after all, I knew Nowhere to be dangerous), but gave my consent. He was thrilled, as if he had expected me to keep him here forever. I was happy just to see his face light up with glee. We talked for a while, before I had to leave. I'm not sure when he's going (probably today or tomorrow), but when he does, I hope he stays relativly safe.

Araku had been walking through the long grass, wary and alert, when the snarls of something echoed, followed by what sounded like other Dreams. He quickened his pace, then stopped when he rounded a curve and came across the rest of the Dreams, apparently fighting a Nightmare. Five dreams currently stood, facing down the Nightmare, while the others hung back, protecting the little ones. He watched the fight carefully, knowing that If he got involved, he might just end up making things worse. Still, he was determined to stay close by, just in case.

Seeing a dream fade out of the battle, Araku growled his anger. Eager to do his part, he bounded down the hill and lept into the space that the other dream had vacated, snarling. Just because he's rather read than fight didn't mean that he didn't know how. After all, hidden under all of his bookish-ness and quiet contemplation was a spark of fire just waiting to be blown on. He launched himself at the Nightmare, teeth bared.

A bit startled at the abrupt ending of the battle, Araku blinked as a green scroll appeared in front of him. Always curious, he investigated it a little, pleased that he would now be able use the magic in it. Remembering where he was, he looked around, noticing the others who were in the fight also recieving a scroll. He flushed slightly, realizing that he didn't know anyone here, and ducked his head slightly.

Valerian
The dark blue Dream let out a sigh of relief as the Nightmare disappeared. He turned his head to the Dream who had entered the fight last. He now had his green scroll with him. Vale nodded to him, "Thank you for helping us. I doubt we could have beaten it with out your help."

Araku looked up when the dark blue Dream addresed him and smiled slightly at his words.

"I really did close to nothing...I think the credit is due far more to those two." he replyed, motioning to Thunder and Lightning. He turned back to him, before continuing. "Thank you though. I hope your friend is alright. Oh, and I'm Araku."
