Welcome to Anam Ciall!
Here there be fantastic beasts based on Celtic knotworks and designs. When I decided to do a shop, I wanted something different. While I had seen shops with a Celtic name or theme, I didn't see any with Celtic beasts! SO, I decided that is what I would do - and here they are!
They are a 3 stage creature based on the snake-dragons from the Book of Kells.

11/6 - We're still here. In order to revamp the shop into something even better, there will be a short hiatus while glamquacks and I set up a new thread with a shop mule. There will be much grand re-opening fun, so watch here for all the details!

10/8 - New limited Halloween Anam! Yay!
9/8 - There is a fun Halloween event going on and Anam Ciall is part of it! If you see the ghostie, be the first to say "Gotcha" and you get a free raffle ticket for a uni. 9/6 - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I have found myself drawn increasingly stretched with running 3 shops, rp and with RL stuff. I love the Anam shop and hated the feeling that I was neglecting it. To that end, I have hired Glamquacks to help me run the shop. She will be running flatsales, coloring and will have her own breeding slots to open. I will still be involved, doing some flatsale eggs, bumping the shop, customs and breeding. I will also be popping in to rp (there is still a deadly out there!) Please respect her and listen to her - she has the right to grey list or ban folks!
On another note - the second every Everyone's a COlorist Event it on! Click RIGHT HERE to go and color an Anam!
8/25 -Preslae was a bit more active than I thought - they all sold! I will do a small set of eggs, same animals, different gender and genetics for tonight then. No presale on these! Folks who bought last night will have to wait 30 minutes after the sale starts before I will let them buy from this set, to give new folks a chance.
8/24 - What is that odd sound in the bushes? Roaring? Hissing? It's the wild animal Anam! :shock
8/21 - I am thinking of allowing prepurchase of flatsale eggs for 1k (versus the 400g you pay in flatsale). This would allow those people who have their heart set on a particular egg a chance to get it without risking a flatsale or let folks who may have to miss a sale to get an egg. I put a poll up to get your ideas - feel free to chat about it as well.
7/21 - Malkut won the 2 headed Anam smile Everyone who posted in the 24 hours after the 100 page mark gets a prize! See page 103 for details!
7/20- We reached 100 pages! Yay! To celebrate there is a new Anam revealed - and one lucky poster will get her for free!
7/19 - Malkut is raffling one of her eggs from the recent breeding! THis is a great chance for an Anam with awesome genetics! Tickest are 50g. See the Event post for a pic and details!
7/18 Busy busy! The twins hatched, the customs hatched and the first round of bred Anam have grown up! We also have the eggs from Zelenka and Dactyl's breeding!
7/7 - Fltsale and raffle today! Yay!!

What does Anam Ciall mean?
Anam Ciall is Gaelic for "Soul Wisdom"
How long do they take to grow up?
Egg to youth takes about 2-3 days, and youth to adult takes 3-4. Basically it takes a week to go from egg to adult smile

Can I have one for free?
Nope. It wouldn't be much of a shop if I gave them away! In my other shop there are some free bumps available, though!

That's my right as a shopkeeper. Most likely that person did something nice for me and I gave them one as a thank you.
Do you do art trades?
Yes! I do reserve the right to say no, though.
Do I have to RP or keep a diary for my pet?
Nope, not at all! It would be nice if you popped in here once and a while, but I am not going to make you! If you want to RP, though, go right ahead! I love to read what people write!
Do I have to use a Celtic name?
Nope - you can name your pet whatever you like!
Do you do anything else?
Why yes, I do! I have another shop called Knotty Critters where I have celtic based art & bumps. It's the first link on my link section!
Is is pronounced keltic or seltic?
The correct pronunciation is keltic with the hard k sound!
Can I work here?
Right now I don't need any help. I may occasionally ask for guest colorists. If you want to apply, PM me and link some of your work for me to see. About twice a year I hold an "Everyone is a COlorist" event where I let anyone color an egg & Anam - watch the news for announcement of the next one!

Want to have an offspring from your Anam? Well, now you can! Anam have genetics that they can pass on to future generations. Flatsale eggs will have their genetics posted, offspring will reveal their genetics when they hatch!
Breeding is gender free - no limits on love here! whee
Breeding fee is 500g I use a randomizer to determine if you get 1,2, or 3 eggs. If you don't own both the Anam, I must have permission from the other owner either in the thread or via PM. You decide what to do with the offspring - just let me know! Sometimes an extra (4th) egg will be in the clutch - if that happens, then the egg will be sold or raffled here in the thread!

My name is Harper and I am a Bard of the old ways. I have served my 7 years learning, and my 7 practicing, and now at last I approach the end of my 7 years of wandering to claim the name Master Bard. Long have I studied, - the music and the magic of my people, the stories that teach and remind us, and the herbs and spells to heal and protect. Even as an infant my family knew I was different, for the very beasts of the fields and birds of the air would visit me in my cradle. When Bright Bridgit Herself claimed me for a bard there were no tears from my family for the loss of me, for they had long known my destiny was not with them.
My friend here is Cara, and she is the first of her kind to cross the wall from this world and the next. I was quite surprised when she first appeared to me. It was a quiet evening and I was playing some simple tunes by the fire, enjoying the solitude. She just - appeared - out of the flames and as calm as you please coiled up next to me! Her body was near half my own in length, and her wise eyes spoke of a knowledge beyond anything I had experienced.
I am Cara she had said. And you, you are the one that has called me here. To you I bind myself, to offer aid, wisdom, and perhaps - friendship. There are others of my kind to follow, and together you and I will find those eggs and find the souls that call to them. This is but the beginning of what we shall do together, Harper of mine.'
To say I was astounded would be an understatement. I felt...something...reaching out and binding itself to my very being -to the awen that is the core of creativity. Since that night we two have wandered, finding clutches of eggs and also finding the souls that called these beings into our world. They are the Anam Ciall - the soul's wisdom that will teach us that which we need to learn if we will but listen.

Some useful info:
Anam speak using telepathy. Some murmurings can be heard from eggs about to hatch.
Full grown Anam are between 4 1/2 to 6 ft in length. Eggs are about the size of cantelope, and young vary in size as they are growing! smile
Males have a slight telekinitic ability, which allows them to move small objects around. They cannot lift themselves, however.
The antenna on the females are very mobile and prehensile, and can be used to lift or move objects.
The only Anam that can fly are the winged ones.
