Here's just a few things about manners:
Smile, smile, smile! A lady always smiles in public. If something goes wrong and you can not contain yourself, excuse yourself in a polite manor.
Watch your posture; keep your back straight, NO slouching! Also, when walking down the street, have your head up high, NOT your nose! Have a stride of confidence, if you have your nose up high, you give off the aura of being stuck up.
When in a conversation, especially one that can end up as a debate, DO NOT cut off people's sentences. Also, don't give your opinion unless asked. That's not to say hide in the background, if you are not asked your opinion, ask questions, in this fashion you'll get your opinion across without sounding crass. It's important to understand various beliefs and opinions, even though they may not agree with your own. With the basis of understanding, we as a society can all get along, with that, speak respectfully. Sound as if you really care about what they are saying, don't give any 'attitude' or any 'lip'.
Think before you open your mouth, otherwise you may sound awkward. Try to limit the 'ums,' in fact, try not to say them at all! When speaking, keep your voice to a tone in which the people can hear you, yet down enough so that the whole office can hear you as well.
Some things to also remember:
Don't forget to greet people appropriately. Not 'Sup', instead, 'Hello' or 'good day'.
Use the terms, 'please', 'thank you', 'you're welcome'.
Be respectful to your elders, don't talk down about your parents, no matter badly you feel about them.
Do not talk about bodily functions.
Do not curse.
Give gratitude to those who help and or give you items. If someone provides a service or gives you a gift, at least say thank you. If possible, do one more step and send them a thank you card.
