What types of questions may I ask in the Q&A?
~The Q&A is meant for all questions related to Gaia.

Is the Q&A only a place for newbies to ask questions?
~Not at all. Although many new Gaians do go there to ask questions, many questions are also asked by returning Gaians or by Gaians who have experienced something new on the site and have a question about it.

Is it alright to ask a question even if I think someone may have asked it before?
~The answer to this question is a qualified Yes. That is, scan the first page to see if someone else is asking the same question you are; if so, join the discussion in the already-existing thread. If there is no similar thread on the first page, feel free to create your own.

May I ask technical questions in the Q&A?
~You may, although you may not receive the answer you need. The Q&A will attempt to answer every question asked, but for technical advice (usually defined as anything more complicated than clearing your browser's cache), you are best off reading the Stickies in Comp & Tech and then posting there if your answer wasn't found in the Stickies.

May I ask for donations in the Q&A? After all, the "A" stands for "Assistance", does it not?
~Although the "A" does stand for "Assistance", that is referring to the help you receive when your question is answered. The Q&A is not the place to request donations; Charities and Quests is available for that type of assistance.

May I ask for tekteks in the Q&A?
~It is better to ask for tekteks in The Dressing Room, a subforum of the GCD.

What if I do not know where to place a thread I want to create?
~The Q&A is happy to help you figure out correct placement for a thread. 3nodding

Why don't Gaia's developers or administrators ever answer the questions in the Q&A?
The developers and administrators are hard at work developing and administrating, so they rarely have the time to answer in the Q&A. However, whenever something breaks on Gaia, the first page of the Q&A usually fills up with questions about the situation almost instantaneously. The developers have mentioned that the Q&A is one of the forums they watch for this very reason; it lets them know right away if something needs immediate attention.

Do I have to be a regular to answer questions in the Q&A?
~No. You are welcome to answer any question to which you know the answer.

I am noticing that a lot of questions get repeated in this forum. Do I need to create a new answer from scratch every time, or is it OK to copy and paste from a list I have made for myself?
~Although answer-sheet copying and pasting is allowed, it is frowned upon by regulars of this forum. If you were the person asking, would you rather get a cookie-cutter answer or something written just for you? A notable exception is when the answer is extremely complicated and best handled by linking to a guide; I have a very long list of subscribed guides.

What type of question is your personal favorite?
~My favorite is item identification. mrgreen It is usually a quick question to answer, because I do my best to stay familiar with all of Gaia's items.

Feel free to add your own questions and answers below. mrgreen

This is more an question for you, rather than about the forum. What got you into posting in the Q&A?

After lurking for a year or so, I knew the answers to the most-frequently-asked questions ("Yes", "No", *link to guide*, *link to guide*, *link to guide*, "Clear your browser's cache". xd ) . Sometimes I am on when it is late at night in the US, so not many of the Q&A Regs were on. It is pretty gratifying to become the last poster of all threads on the first page. xp It was an easy addiction for me. mrgreen

You'd have to have patience to stay there xD

I know it did drive me mad after a while answering the same question over and over and over.

I used to post around in Q&A a long, long time ago. It wasn't really under this account. I seem to remember I stopped answering questions before terradi was modded, and when she still wore an entire angelic set. She even had the angelic boots and an angelic staff. It's funny what the brain remembers.

Mostly, these days, I lurk. If I go to answer a thread, someone is ten times faster than me at answering it. That's more or less why I stopped answering them and just settled with lurking instead. xD

Having a good answer that is helpful is more important than the speed with which you answer.

Very true. Completeness as well as correctness is better than a speedy half-answer. 3nodding

Ah, but they answered it completely and correctly much faster than I did. I'm a chatterbox so it takes me longer than the average Gaian to type an answer.
