The Book of Job was an eye-opener for me too. It's not just Jesus, but all righteous people who will go through hard times. We go through tribulation to have our loyalties tested. Will we rely on him when catastrophic or life-threatening situations arise? The more we walk with him in life, the more opportunities we have to rehearse. There'll come a point where not even death can convince us to reject or blaspheme Him, nor make us act contrary to his way.
I see people compromising on his way
now when things are good, so imagine when catastrophe hits! They'll be stingy, not sharing. They'll lose their tempers and all peace. They'll be engulfed by an anxious heart. They'll be relying on feelings, not the truth of his promises or the integrity of his character. If they don't have a right sense of who he is, they'll be deceived by anyone trying to pass for him as well. Job knew God. He knew he was just and holy. Knowing those two characteristics alone can keep us safe from a whole lot of lies and worries.
