yep yep!
it's such a fun job so far, though since it's winter it's slow. bad for training, but good for me so i can kind of ease into the job and not be met by a ridiculous rush of people. plus, my manager is fully Christian which will be a blessing.

the bad news though is that i can't get discounts, nor have any share in the tips until i'm done training. 50% employee discount ... sigh.

and they have these embarrassing signs that say "sorry i'm slow (insert picture of a snail), i'm a trainee!" so people won't get upset when i make their ice cream slower than other people. it's hazing i tell you! straight hazing! XD

and last ...
thank you thank you very much
for the tip you've given us

Ah yes, a Christian Boss makes work so much easier. When I first started at Wendys, getting Saturdays off was a pain, my boos looked at me like I was a fruit-loop, and that's actually part of the reason I quit a few months back, I worked there for almost a month, with the promise that "Don't worry, you'll have Next Saturday off, we just can't fill it this weekend..." scream

ah, so you go to church on Saturday then?
my boss was VERY understanding when i said that i had youth group the same night i was going to be trained. she asked me if it Friday was a good day, and i said "well ... i COULD make it." then she asked what i had, and i replied "youth group", so she said "okay, well then how's Saturday?" sweet. and then i get Sundays off. major sweetness.

so update on my job. this is technically my third week at work, but only my second week really working, so i'm still not as fast as the non-trainees. the owner comes in, whom i've heard that sometimes if she sees something she doesn't like she'll fire the person on the spot. so the guy i'm working with tells me she's coming in and to try and not be nervous. i'm nervous anyway. i'm helping a customer and she comes in. i'm thinking "be calm, be calm ..." and then she comes up to me and says "when you're done with this customer, come in the back. i need to talk to you." she then goes off saying that i'm over proportioning my ice cream and that since it's my third week i should be up to speed (second full week really, as i said earlier), especially when it comes to mixing. all of these are valid, but i suppose that the manner in which she spoke to me really stood out. it wasn't a harsh tone, but it wasn't nice either. luckily, since i was a trainee i didn't lose my job. she then asks me how i feel about working alone on Tuesday (which i was scheduled for). i reply "kinda nervous." she then offers to come in and help me a bit. well, basically to me she's someone i really do not want around me for more than five minutes. also, she said that i need to show improvement by Tuesday (i work two more days). so i need major prayer for this! this is my first job and i do not want to blow it just because i did not work hard at it.

so basically prayer in several things, one that i haven't mentioned is getting the hang of balancing schoolwork and work. and second that God would help me improve on my job.

so today someone phoned in a complaint and it concerned me.
crap. basically she exaggerated what happened and added stuff it so it would sound more severe, but she still gets the reward of thinking that she won. she gets a free ice cream.

and then i messed up her order, did another one, and forgot to tell the manager.

gonk x2

it's okay, burny. I love my job...but hate my manager.

And i get crap from him all the time....like, he says that I burn out faster than all of the other employees--I come to work exhausted more often, etc, and with working way fewer hours, too. What he doesn't see is that in addition to working 16-24 hours a week, I go to school full time and spend all of my regularly scheduled time off basically working elsewhere for my internship. Work is on my list of things I need to get done and done well right above sleep, most days. I don't actually get "days off" unless I ask for them off for the specific purpose of doing nothing...and then I still end up doing homework.

not to mention that I work Guest Services....that would be, the complaint desk, on many days. Some customers drive me nuts. "No, you can't still buy a lottery ticket. The machine is logged off." "Oh, well, you could log back on, you just don't want to help me." "No, actually, we don't sign the machine back on until morning." *customer freaks out and demands to see a manager*

anyway, I'm glad you're boss is a Christian. that makes things so much easier, I really wish I was in your boat. I will pray for your improvement in speed and portioning..

thanks for the prayer. i got sick this week, but luckily (haha) my fever went down the day i was to work with the store owner. sweet! i was kind of weak, but i knew that it wouldn't interfere physically since it's really slow. and to be short, i was dreading it and expected it to be a terrible day. but by God's grace it turned out a lot better than expected. granted, she did get annoyed by a few things i did, but i'm learning to cope with it. since i've had pretty lenient parents and i don't really have "teachers" in school, i haven't really had a person i'm not familiar with be in authority over me, and i have to listen to them. so i'm trying to get used to it. (:

i got paid today but forgot to pick it up. XD

Hope you're feeling better. smile

Yeah, I actually had a good day with my boss yesterday, which is not usual. I think it had to do with the fact I was just in an amazing mood all day--it carried over to work as well!

Paydays rock. I love working behind the desk on Paydays...everyone is nice to the girl that give you your check. xp

yeah. now i have more of a desire to read God's word in the morning. it's still primarily to know Him, but also that i would be filled with His Spirit and i would be more in tune with the spiritual and not be so focused on the minor troubles of the present.

and i found out that at least three other people there are Christians. on Friday one guy was playing a worship CD in the back room, and i was all "sweet!" it made my day. (:
