Yes, indeedy: I know that everyone knows that you know an obscure band that seemingly no one else knows.
Mine is FAKE?. J-rock band that sings very good English songs, has catchy tunes and cool lyrics.

Mine would be Captain Tractor, a Western Canadian celt-rock band which puts out the greatest drinking songs in... maybe ever?

Aw, man. I just know this thread is going to cause me to overload my iPod with new stuff (never a bad thing). *goes to check out Captain Tractor and Fake*
I love boa, the indie folk-rock group from the UK (NOT THE AWFUL K-POP WHORE).
Yeah, they had a song that was used in the opening of Serial Experiments:Lain, but they're still really unknown/not popular in the states, Japan, or even the UK (they barely scrape enough together to record an album every once in a millenium), which is sad since I think their stuff is beautiful, engaging, and has been a steady soundtrack in my life for quite some time (both of their albums are regulars in my daily music routine)
I have their music video for their song Duvet in my profile for anyone interested.

Boa! I have all of Twilight sitting around on an old harddrive somewhere.
Do they actually put out new material? Or have they broken up? I've not looked for anything from them in years...
If you're seeking out Captain Tractor, I suggest starting with "Up The Hill" or "Mary Donnell". :3

they just put out a second album about 6 months ago, and are currently on hiatus (working on other projects separately).
The album Get There is really good, probably better than Twilight IMO (Angry may be their best song ever).
@Captain Tractor advice: cool, can do *goes to search*

Angry's my favorite song of theirs if only for the awesome churning guitar part.
none of the bands I like can be really 'obscure'. most of them are pretty well-known. I fail at indiehood! gonk

You guys have reminded me to get all the Boa albums. Duvet is such an awesome, timeless song.
Oh yeah, we mustn't forget The Pillows! surprised

I don't have a great conception of what obscure really is since around here The Smiths are considered obscure. Explain that.
I'll offer up Kidneythieves and Visual Audio Sensory Theatre and hope they count.

Oh christ, I don't even listen to music. I'm not sure if my stuff is obscure or not... Um, Nightmare is an awesome J-Rock Band. Seriously, they're just goofy. Dasia Boogie is a rock/swong song with a really wierd music video, and there's another song where they dress up like a 50's american pop band and sing a song in that style (all the while retaining they're facial jewelry) And of course, they have some real songs, but yeah. Great band.

kaophyre Spider_Jerusalem The Smiths are considered obscure. heart heart heart I don't much enjoy living in a world where Love Spit Love and tAtU (as much as I love them and their cover) define one of the greatest pop songs of all time. God do I ever love The Smiths though. I can't think of a single band that climbed the ranks of my absolute favorites as quickly as they did. Of course Morrissey can be a complete git when he wants to be but he makes great music.
