I will eventually put up my own tutorial/projects, but for now I'll just explain a bit.

Felting is taking wool and shaping it using various methods. You usually start out with a bag of loose wool in a ton of diffrent colors, but some types of wool yarn can be used. You also need special felting needles, which are long needles with tiny hooks along the bottom. The three things I usually see made using felting are:

Fabric, that looks and feels like what you would consider 'felt', usually made into scarfs, bracelets, purses or whatever. This can either be needle felted this way, or knitted with yarn and fused together by getting it wet.

beads, which are incredibly easy to make. You just take a bit of wool, roll it into a ball under soap and water and it shrinks. It looks like a large wooden bead only soft like fabric.

plushies, figures, mini-dolls. You make these using needle felting, and you litterally shape it however you want and you can add on any color. Very cute and can easily be added onto a necklace to create a cute, unique, decora look. (Tip: You dont actually have to form a hole in the felted project to get it onto a necklace, just thread the necklace string through a needle and stick the needle through)

Heres a site that explains all the techniques.

Edit: Another thing you can do using felting is embelish other clothing/accessories.

Felting is fun, easy and relaxing. Whenever I want to felt a necklace I call a couple friends over and we felt while watching a movie. Not only is it super easy, but you don't need to concentrate perfectly on what you are doing (although you may stab yourself with a needle multipul times at first).

Alot of the accessories you see on decora-chan can be recreated using felting! After seeing a strawberry plush cell phone holder on several japanese decora girls, I made my own using wool and felt, and I've gotton complements on it too!

The ONLY problem with felting is it can be very hard to find the materials! Not all fabric places sell it and I dont think Michaels sells it, but ask around and look in specialty craft stores. And if not, get it online!

Oh- We do this at the zoo with wool from the sheep. I work there, so sometimes we have to get out the felting and show people how you can use wool. Usually our felting isn't as neat as the ones you showed, but mostly because we only do it for about an hour.

I made a Hello Kitty face once, another time I made Harry Potter.

It's really fun.

ROFL.

So I made the Harry Potter face right, and it turns out someone stuck it onto a sign that said "MIA SAYS NO TALKING ABOUT HARRY POTTER" xDDD AND IT WAS IN THE YEARBOOK XDDDDDDD

Mia is our boss, and we weren't allowed to talk about Harry Potter when the 7th book came out. I had work on the 22, the day after it came out.

Oh wow! I plan on googling needle-felting now. I think I'd like to make a penant for my boyfriend like the one in the link with the sushi and purse.

Kudos! I love it! Subscribed <3~
