My husband and I are going to be stationed far away from our families and unable to travel for most of the holiday season. The same is going to be true of many of the men in his flight, most of whom aren't married. So I thought, why not invite them over for Thanksgiving dinner?
Problem 1: That's a lot of people and our place is small.
Problem 2: I am a terrible cook.
While I'm having fun working this out, I'd like to suggest this to other families far from home. Are there service members with out a place to go for Thanksgiving besides the chow hall? Invite them over. Get other spouses involved. Make a big deal out of it, especially if your base doesn't have anything planned for the holiday. Work on care packages for our guys in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Just an idea.
