The largest part of Soul Society. Split into numbered sectors, Rugonkai is where departed souls first appear in Soul Society. There, they join together into family units for protection and fellowship as finding one's real family there is very rare. The smallest numbered sectors are were Soul Society's nobility dwells. As the numbers grew larger, the sectors become more dangerous and slum-like.

Nanao walked out of the eastern gate leading into the Rugonkai slightly ahead of her captain. It wasn't that she did not want to walk next to him, actually far from it, she just wanted to keep a slight distance not quite knowing what would happen. She had, for quite some time now, held feelings for her captain that were not those usually felt between a captain and vice-captain. It was not something she was even all together proud of, being a very by the book type of person herself. It was just something that she could not help. Spending time with Shunsui out side of the office like this would not quite help her predicament as he always loved to hit on her more so when they were out of eye shot of other members of the 13 divisions.
Looking back over her shoulder the dark haired vice-captain smiled at Kyouraku. "You sure do like to take things slow don't you?" she asked before looking back to the path in front of her. It had been a long time since she had last been out here to the Rugonkai so she was sure much had changed. She had to admit that it was nice to actually get out of the office for once and explore the surrounding area. Taking in a deep breath she continued to walk just a few steppes ahead of her captain.

Kyouraku nodded to her comment as he followed behind her, "Sure do," He commented as he placed his hands behind his head and leaned back slightly to allow the sun on his face. As they walked they passed by dozens of houses filled with "wandering souls." The sector of the East District was really nice as it was very close to Seireitei, but as they walked it slowly became less ritzy. For some reason he continued to walk, passing up more and more people. Dozens of the people inhabiting the area began to whisper, recognizing the two of them as being high ranking shinigami. Kyouraku let his arms drop to his sides and he began to look each of the people he passed in the face. Many of the weaker souls could hardly stay conscious with him near, even though he tried as hard as he could to surpress his reiatsu. One small child ran out into the path, shouting "A Captain! A Captain! Look!"
Shunsui looked down and smiled at the young boy, "Would you like an autograph?" He asked as he pulled out a small slip of paper that he quickly signed. The child gazed in amazement as he received his gift. "Young man, you will be a great shinigami someday." He said as he handed it to the boy. His words were not empty, for he knew that if the child could come this close and still be able to shout and jump about, he surely had a strong tolerance for high reiatsu levels, meaning that he himself would have high reiatsu. Once the child ran off to show his friends Kyouraku continued forward.
Soon they began to enter the slums. Things were not nearly as nice in these parts and noise was more apparant. As he looked around something suddenly clicked in Kyouraku's mind. He stopped walking without saying a word and blankly stared off into the distance.

Nanao stopped as well no longer hearing her captains steps behind her or feel him as strongly as usual. She turned around to face him quickly walking back to his side as she had gotten quite a distance ahead. "Sir, are you alright?" He asked staring up at him through her glasses that she had to once more adjust as they had slid down her nose in her hurry to get back to where Shunsui was standing. He had never really acted like this before so it was in a way making her quite nervous. Something was going on though she was not quite sure what. It could really be just about anything given the area they where currently in. Taking her eyes off of the eight division captain she looked around the street they where standing in trying to figure things out on her own

There was a bit of a pause before Shunsui would reply to Nanao's question. He simply stood there, eyes slowly drifting around the area. "I'm fine..." He said quietly, obvious that something was clearly on his mind. He looked around some more without moving his head. Pretty soon he snapped back to his usual self and said, "We should keep moving." Though his light expression had returned his voice was still different. Not necessarily worried, but definitely off from usual.

Nanao knew that if Kyouraku wanted her to know he would tell her so she was not going to push the subject matter any more. When she needed to know thats when it would come out. This time staying at his side she walked with her captain down the path. She still felt a bit of unease in the area causing her eyes to flick from one side do the other scanning the area for anything that may be off. She did not want to be taken off guard just because she had though she was somewhere secure. Looking up at Shunsui she gave him a small smile trying to lighten the mood. "So how much work do you think I'll have to finish once we get back to the division's office?" she asked

"You would know better than I would, right?" He replied in a half-joking sense. She really would know better than he would! As they continued their walk through the slums of East Rukongai Shunsui looked to his Vice Captain and asked, "Does any of this seem strange to you?" His pace remained the same even though the area wasn't necessarily a friendly one. Many of the older souls knew who they were and whispered in jealousy about how the Shinigami got to live so ritzy.

Nanao let out a sigh looking around once more. She had not really thought about it before her captain said anything. "Now that you mention it sir...." She began her eyes landing back on him. There was something going on but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Something was off more so then usually. It was hard for her to figure out as she had not often come out here usually opting to keep to her office while Shunsui would go on his walks amongst the souls that usually would rather spit on them then anything else. "But whats going on?" She mumbled more to herself then to her captain extremely confused.

Shunsui grunted out of frustration then gave a slight sigh, "No, it's noting. We should keep moving." He said again. He turned around and began to walk back toward the center of Soul Society. As they walked he looked back and said, "Hey, Nanao-chan... Please forget the way I have been acting since coming here. Old memories are nice, but some can also be cause for unfortunate circumstances if spoken."

Nanao's eyebrows furrowed as she stared at her captain. She was focusing on the last part of his statement....Old memories are nice, but some can also be cause for unfortunate circumstances if spoken... what did he mean by that. There had to be a reason as any time Shunsui seemed to say something in a serious tone there was a reason behind that. The only problem was ...what. What memory could her captain be talking about. There was nothing that could come ti her mind at the moment.
Shaking her head Nanao looked down at the ground. What ever Shunsui meant she would respect that. He didn't, or couldn't, speak about it here. She would learn of it in due time as that was the way of things with him. "Alright, lets go" She said looking up and following behind Kyouraku back out of the Rugonkai and eventually towards the eight division.

As they made their way back into the ritzy parts of East Rukongai Shunsui decided to quicken his pace, eager to return to the division. Every now and then he'd glance back to see if Nanao was keeping up with him. Since it didn't seem to be an issue, he continued forward, silently.

Tami stood in the middle of the dirt pathway. She wasn't sure what numbered district of Rugonkai she was in, but she did remember that most if not all of the districts met the pure court in the middle.
"I hope the taichous aren't too upset about my un approved absence." Tami set forth towards the pure court as her mind began to playback how this all came to be.
~Flashback start~
Tami was laying on the futon inside 'her' room, and staring at the ceiling above. It wasn't long after she fought with the training dummy created by the seemingly psychotic captain. She was injured, but she knew it could have been alot worse.
'I need to become stronger, as I am now...there's no way I can be of any real help.' Tami fell asleep shortly after.
The next morning Tami spent devising a plan on how to become stronger.
She didn't go to the training grounds like she normally found herself, but instead she stayed inside her room.
'I can't use the training ground to become stronger, becaues there's no training dummy that can prepare you for a real fight.' Tami knew about the gate to the real world, she knew there was guards watching it almost all the time.
"I have to try and rush through with another group who are leaving, it's the only chance I will have to get to the real world. If i go to the squad leaders they will probably just tell me to go train in the dojo." Tami's mind was set, she would leave Seireitei, and with the purpose of becoming stronger.
--Time skip--
It had been rough for Tami in the world of the living. She had managed to sneak to the world of the living, and her training was going fine. She managed to take out some of the lower leveled Hollows with ease, and only struggled on some of the more veteraned. She wasn't sure how long she'd been away, and she wasn't sure if seiteitei even knew she was gone. Hopefully they didn't think that she tried to defect or something.
She had managed to accomplish her task at becoming stronger, although she didn't achieve her bankai yet, she did become stronger, and more experienced.
"I guess i should return, although I have no clue how to do that." She said with a slight chuckle, before feeling a group of reiatsu. She raised an eyebrow."No way...that is just awkward....what are the chances that an academy class is having their hollow hunting exam today. Oh well, never pass up a good thing." Tami kept her reiatsu hidden well enough that the instructors only felt her as she entered the gate.
