The vast desert of the Hollow World. White sand, bony trees made of quartz and perpetual darkness make up this world. Most weaker Hollows remain here when they first transform to gain strength from the spirit particle saturated atmosphere before going to the Living Realm to feed on human souls.

Mugoi ventured out into the deserts of Hueco Mundo, coming from the Sanctuary. He found a nice quiet spot atop a large sand dune and sat down on the peak. Gazing out over the vast sea of white sand and chrystaline trees he unsheathed his zanpakuto and released it into its shikai from. Closing his eyes he delved deep into his sword's spirit world to speak with the spirit. A blazing red horse appeared before him and reared up onto its hind legs. "What do you want, young one?" The horse asked in an oddly calm voice considering its outward appearance.
Mugoi cracked a small smile and said, "Kashoten, it's time. Forgive me, for I have put off training for my Bankai for so long and only allowed you to unleash part of your power. But now I feel it's the right time. We will be leaving Hueco Mundo soon and I want to have your second form released by then."
"Well if it isn't about time. I was starting to think that you didn't want to learn it." The horse said with a neigh. "Well then I guess we should get started." The two suddenly appeared back in the desert, no longer in the spirit world.
"So what do I have to do? I'll do anything it takes." Mugoi said eagerly.
The horse's voice laughed and said, "I hope so! There are three parts of your training. You will learn them as they come as I will not disclose them to you now with the exception of the first task. First off, you have to survive for four days. You'll understand soon enough what I mean. Attacking is not allowed in this trial." The fiery horse reared up once again and ran off into the distance with great speed before Mugoi could reply, then turned around and came running back. It was soon apparant to him what the spiritual horse meant by "survive." As it approached, the horse picked up great speed and was headed straight for Mugoi. He was barely able to jump out of the way as he didn't realize that he was going to be trampled on purpose. The horse darted off again and turned around to repeat the process. This time Mugoi was a bit more ready and dodged with ease. The horse would not tire, though. Not as Mugoi would eventually...

The horse continued its assault on Mugoi for four straight days. By the second day Mugoi got the hang of dodging the horse and even started to slap its hind quarter as it went by as a way of taunting it to step things up. By the third day he finally started to tire and nearly got trampled several times, getting knocked on his a** almost as much as he dodged. By the end of the fourth day he was surviving simply by taking the hits from the horse and doing his best to avoid the armored spikes. He managed to get stabbed once in the shoulder, but that was the only bloody injury other than a few scrapes on his face and hands. He was near the end of his rope when finally the horse charged up on him one last time. Mugoi stood there, nearly asleep on his feet but was able to fall to the side the instant before he would have impacted. Kashoten slid to a stop and turned around to face him.
"Stand up," the horse commanded. Mugoi forced himself to move, slowly rising to meet the horse's challenge. "You will have half a day to rest before the next challenge. I suggest you use it well as it will be equally as difficult as this test." With that Mugoi collapsed and passed out on the sand while the horse stood there to watch over him.

Exactly twelve hours passed and Kashoten powerfully stomped the ground next to Mugoi's head. He had slept for the entire twelve hours and was not surprised that the horse had woken him so rudely. He stood up and wiped his eyes before asking, "Okay, so what do I have to do now?"
"Catch me..." Kashoten said bluntly, "And ride me for more than ten seconds."
"Sounds easy enough," Mugoi said with a cocky voice.
"Do not take this lightly! This will be even more difficult than the last test as I will still try to attack you from time to time. Now let's begin." The blazing red horse reared up and charged off into the distance, galloping with ease over the white sand. Mugoi shook his head and began to run after the horse.

Weeks passed. That damned horse had been just too fast for Mugoi for quite a while. As the end of the third week Mugoi simply stood there in the middle of the desert, watching the horse trample about. "Hmm... There has to be some way to catch him other than just chasing after him." He said aloud as if talking to someone who was helping him.
"What if I try... this..." He prepared himself as the horse began to charge once again. He stood motionless, whispering words of an incantation. As he finished he made his voice louder, "Hadou number 33, Shot of Blue Fire, Crash Down!" He thrust his hand forward and attacked the sand at the horse's feet, causing it to tumble. He leapt up and landed on top of the fiery red spirit beast, stradling it as it passed under him.
"Ha! What do you think of that!" He asked the now defeated horse.
Kashoten stood up with Mugoi underneath him and reared up, knocking him off. "You forgot about the second condition of this trial. You need to ride me for more than ten seconds! Try again."
Mugoi stood up and said, "Fine, bring it on. I can do it again only better this time!" The horse shot off and looped back. Mugoi repeated the same thing only this time he didn't cast a spell but made it look like he was going to. He knew that the horse would expect him to try the same thing again so instead of casting a spell he merely thrust his hand forward. Kashoten was ready for an attack so he dodged to the left and slowed down just a little. Seeing which was Kashoten had dodged Mugoi was able to react quickly and used the same hand that he had thrust out to cast the fake spell to catch onto the saddle strap of the mighty horse. He swung up and landed in the saddle. Kashoten immediately started bucking and rearing up, trying to knock Mugoi away, but Mugoi's grasp was as steeled as his resolve and he would not falter. Ten seconds passed and Kashoten stopped.
"Good. Get some rest and prepare for the next trial." Noted the spectral horse. Mugoi slid down from the saddle and sat lazily on the white sand, falling fast asleep once again.

Sleep only set in for about five hours before the anticipation of what the final task would be before he could achieve his Bankai would be. He jumped up, literally, from his reast and grabbed Kashoten by the reins out of reflex, thinking that he would probably run away again. But when he realized what was going on he noticed that he was not grabbing the reins of a horse, but rather the bright, fiery beard of a man. Kashoten's eyes narrowed on the shinigami and Mugoi immediately let go.
"You're not going to have to chase me." Kashoten said in a gruff tone.
"Yeah, I kinda figured that..." Mugoi replied, "So please, tell me what the final task is."
"All you have to do is defeat me without getting hit once. Little hits don't count. You have to hit me with an attack that would kill a human instantly. You know how to do that, right? But if you get hit by me you will have to wait a day before trying again, even if it is only a scratch." The spirit form of the Zanpakuto was in full human form, heavily armored, and holding a mighty Chinese Pole Axe.
Mugoi nodded, "Finally, a task that won't make me pass out at the end." He steped back from the spectral man and took an offensive stance with his halberd zanpakuto. Kashoten scoffed once again at Mugoi's overconfidence, but let it roll since Mugoi would probably be eating his words by the time he was done with him. The blazing warrior made the first attack, striking for Mugoi's chest with a mighty horizontal swing of the axe...

The two fought for two whole days without much rest. Neither one of them could land a blow until finally Mugoi's concentration slipped and he got nicked across the right arm with the spirit's axe. As the rules went he had to wait a day and once that day was up he stood and said, "That was a tiny mistake, it won't happen again!"
The spectral man scoffed and immediately attacked with a powerful downward strike. Mugoi's reiatsu flared up exponentially and he met the blow with incredible force. His attack was powerful enough to know the axe back up and from there he spun his weapon around and thrust the butt end straight into Kashoten's chest. It wasn't a lethal attack, but it knocked him back long enough for Mugoi to spin the halberd back around again to make an upward slash with the crescent blade. The blade stuck into Kashoten's groin area and dragged up through his chest, clipping the collarbone like it was nothing. From there he pulled his weapon out and threw a powerful front kick into Kashoten's chest, then thrust the butt end of his weapon into the sand, standing over his victim.
Kashoten got up and the wound healed instantly, "Most impressive. I did not expect you to defeat me so quickly. Your training is complete. You now have your Bankai."
A sadistic grin appeared on Mugoi's face as Kashoten sealed himself back into the zanpakuto. He gave several laughs as he held the halberd then held it out in front of him. "Bankai!" The weapon released and suddenly his bankai was revealed. ((Of course I'm not going to show it here!)) After several hours of messing around with it, killing any stray hollows that passed by, he finally grew tired from used and passed out, sealing the sword completely. He lay on the sand, satisfied with his accomplishment, and slept. Once he awoke he began his trek back to the Sanctuary.

The Garganta from Soul Society opened upon the plane of Hueco Mundo, giving way for the captains to step through onto the sand. Looking about, Ukitake searched for any sign of their quarry, feeling around for any strong reiatsu. The one from Los Noches was clear, but there was another off in the opposite direction. For a moment, he thought he saw a small cloud of dust fly up, but there was nothing there. Must have been the wind. "I think I can feel them over in that direction." he said to Shunsui, one hand going to his zanpakuto just in case it had to be drawn at all. Unfortunately, there was nothing occupying his sash. Looking down in surprise, Ukitake glanced over at Kyoraku, finding his weapons were gone as well.
"Sōgyo no Kotowari and Katen Kyōkotsu. I remember you two quite well." a voice said from behind them, causing Ukitake to turn with a start. Not a second before the voice spoke, he felt the reiatsu suddenly appear behind them. No sign of it moving at all, it simply appeared as if out of thin air. Nagaharu stood back to back with the other two captains, admiring their weapons.
Ukitake recognized this young man. White hair, black headband covering one eye, green armor, and the tell-tale lieutenant's badge attached to the left pauldren. The former head of the Kuchiki clan. "Nagaharu...Kuchiki." the white haired captain said. He shouldn't been surprised at his sudden appearance, after all it was what he specialized in. Still, he hadn't experienced it since he'd fought the banished lieutenant with Kyoraku to capture him.
Glancing over his shoulder, Nagaharu said, "So, we haven't been totally forgotten. I'm honored."
"We're not here to fight. We only wish to speak with Ikkimaru. Please, take us to him." Ukitake replied.
"Careful, Ukitake. You're not in Soul Society anymore. Demands shouldn't be thrown around so carelessly." Nagaharu replied as Kyoraku's pink overcoat caught his eye. "That coat...yes, I remember that. But, I wonder...." he muttered, thinking aloud as he strode up to Kyoraku and examined him for a moment before finally taking a section of the coat in his hand and running his thumb and index finger over three small cuts in the fabric that had been sewn back together. "Hmm, you went ahead and mended it, eh? Too bad, she was fun while she lasted. It would have been nice to remember it again." he said before turning and walking towards Sanctuary, the two captains' zanpakuto slung over his shoulder for safe keeping. "Are you two coming or not? Ikkimaru's waiting for you."

Kyouraku looked around at the vast waseland of Hueco Mundo. It was such a dreary sight and he knew that it would be a long trek to find the bannished squad. However, as soon as he made this assumption Nagaharu appeared. "Fast as ever..." Kyouraku thought at the appearance of the lieutennant. He had been disarmed before they even knew he was there. Incredible. Shunsui listened to the talk between the two white haired shinigami, then Haru's mention of the coat Shunsui wore quickly caught his attention. The memory of holding his former lieutennant in his arms while she lay bleeding out from the wounds on her chest flooded his mind. Anger swelled within him but he pushed it back with good memories of her as well as newer memories of Nanao.
"Let's go before I remember that our laws do not hold out here," He said with a hint of anger left on his voice. If he had to wait any longer to move he would surely not be able to hold himself back.

As Ikkimaru shunpo'd through the desert, Nagaharu could be seen zipping around him, hands in his pockets, non-chalantly keeping up with him with ease. "Come on, old man, you're gettin' slow. You do better than that." he teased his captain.

"I was just enjoying myself, Nagaharu," Ikkimaru stated between steps. "If you want to make this a race, which I will surely lose, then we can do so. But then you would have to sit around and wait for me to get there. So do what you want." As he finished Ikkimaru made his stride larger so that he could cover more distance with each flash step and increased the speed of each step. The end result was a flash step that was four times as fast as before.

"I'm not saying anything about a race, I'm just not a fan of jogging." Nagaharu replied, speeding up to coincide with Ikkimaru's pace. After a while, he grew bored running circles around him and simply ran along side him as he shunpo'd towards Los Noches, the fortress in the distance growing closer with passing moment.
