Easily one of the most debated characters. Do you want him in? Do you think he should be in? Do you think he will be in? Do you think he's too big, or has any features that might keep him from the game? Discuss.

I want him in as an Assist Trophy or a Boss, nothing more.
I think he should be in, again as an AT or B.
I think he will be in, hopefully as an AT or B.
I think he's too big, and awkwardly shape, and more flyable than past characters who've had their wings clipped, and overall I just don't think he'd be a good playable character. Fantastic assist trophy or boss, but just not a good playable character.

I want him in.
Yes, Metroid needs more representation.
He's a shoe in. He ranked second on Sakurai's poll, which definitely counts for something. I think he will be in.
He can be resized, as shown in the intro for Melee. I can confidently say that Ridley has an extremely high chance of being a playable character in Brawl.

Everyone should remember that in the original Metroid, Ridley, and Kraid, we're both not much bigger than Samus. Resizing is very common umongst video game villains. Wasn't it just recently that Dr. Robotnik appeared to have lost 80 pounds in Sonic the Hedgehog for 360 and Ps3, and then gained it all back in Secret Rings? xd
As everyone says, resizing is possible, especially considering the case of Bowser.

Bowser Jr. is the size of a koopaling in Sunshine. In Galaxy, he's taller than peach. Olimar is the size of a dime. Size is no matter. Flyable? Kirby had infinate jumps in most of his games. Also, there are plenty of bosses that could take Ridley's place. Kraid, Mother Brain, Mother Brain's Mutant Form, Dark Samus, Ingsmasher, Quaddy, and the hunters. Agreed, He would make one of the msot epic Bosses ever, but How about we take his Meta Form instead? It's a lot larger.

Technically Godzilla is 400 feet tall, and thus much much bigger then bowser in that picture, but you make excellent points regardless

Have you seen Bowser's size in Galaxy? He's freakin 8x Marios height (In brawl it shows him....3x? Maybe?
But yes. Size is not an issue

AaronTheGreat Technically Godzilla is 400 feet tall, and thus much much bigger then bowser in that picture, but you make excellent points regardless No, he doesn't actually. Bowser has only ever been that big from Super Mario Sunshine and on. And need I remind you that THAT Bowser was released AFTER Super Smash Bros Melee. Bowser in every other previous title (as well as all party titles) is only a little bigger than Mario. You might have had a legitimate point if you had at least used the 64 version of Bowser, but even he wasn't much bigger than Mario, and even if was "only a bit smaller than godzilla" in both Sunshine and Galaxy, both of those games were released AFTER Melee, so as such, Bowser was altered for those games, not for Super Smash Bros. Also, your point for Olimar doesn't fly either since Olimar is currently neither a character nor an Assist Trophy. I'll give you the point about flying, but as far as size is concerned, I don't think you're quite getting what I'm saying anyway. I know that they can make him smaller, and I've heard the point about Melee's opening vid before, but because of the way he is shaped, I don't think he would bend well with the rest of the characters if his size was reduced. If you're including his wing span, he is proportionally too large to fit in with the rest of the characters on the battlefield. If Nintendo proves me wrong and makes him a playable character, then may it be done. I just personally don't think he would work as a playable character and Nintendo would rather have him as a boss or Assist Trophy. And just a quick question about this quote: Quote: How about we take his Meta Form instead? It's a lot larger. I thought size didn't matter? neutral

In Sim City for the Super Nintendo, Bowser sometimes comes along and starts destorying city sized buildings that are smaller than him. That game was before Melee. In certain Mario Party games he was huge also. I think there's still more examples, though I can't remember which exactly.

Bowser premiered in Mario, and he premiered only a little larger than Mario, as I've already provided with a picture. The debate is whether or not a character can be reduced, not enlarged. And I have my opinion, you all have yours, let's just leave it at that until Nintendo says otherwise.

Bowser has only ever been that big from Super Mario Sunshine and on. And need I remind you that THAT Bowser was released AFTER Super Smash Bros Melee. Woah woah woah, I'm talking about brawl. Not melee. Sunshine came out Before Brawl. Bowser in every other previous title (as well as all party titles) is only a little bigger than Mario. Quote: You might have had a legitimate point if you had at least used the 64 version of Bowser, but even he wasn't much bigger than Mario, and even if was "only a bit smaller than godzilla" in both Sunshine and Galaxy, both of those games were released AFTER Melee, so as such, Bowser was altered for those games, not for Super Smash Bros. See above. Quote: Also, your point for Olimar doesn't fly either since Olimar is currently neither a character nor an Assist Trophy. If Olimar doesn't get in, Characters like Lucario and Krystal won't get in either. Olimar is wanted by near everyone, despite his size. He'll get in as an assist trophy at least, and then what? We have a character the size of a bug running around smacking people with living plants? They'll have to size him up. Quote: I'll give you the point about flying, but as far as size is concerned, I don't think you're quite getting what I'm saying anyway. I know that they can make him smaller, and I've heard the point about Melee's opening vid before, but because of the way he is shaped, I don't think he would bend well with the rest of the characters if his size was reduced. He's been standing up, sitting down, and Crawling in all the Metroid games. I'll doubt he has problems now. Quote: If you're including his wing span, he is proportionally too large to fit in with the rest of the characters on the battlefield. Then again, wings can fold up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4VZlEKWFZoIn this Video, Omega Ridley can freely open his wings when he's flying and close them on the ground. If Nintendo proves me wrong and makes him a playable character, then may it be done. I just personally don't think he would work as a playable character and Nintendo would rather have him as a boss or Assist Trophy. Quote: I thought size didn't matter? neutral It doesn't, but why take a smaller, weaker form when you could have the Form with a ton of s**t strapped on him to make him bigger and heavier?

If I remember correctly, I saw a picture of Mario next to bowser in SMAS, and Samus next to ridley in Super metroid. Mario was scaled up to be the size of samus. Bowser and Ridley were the same size. Oh, and only if Trogdor is a Boss.
