Bio: Laid back and a hopeless skirt chaser, Captain Kyouraku doesn't exactly seem like the model leader for the 13 Protection Squads. However like his best friend from the Academy, Captain Ukitake, his powers are also said to be greater than any generation past or present, and he was among the first two Captains to come out of the Shinigami Academy. Preferring teasing his subordinates to fighting, much of his loose personality is genuine, though some of it covers up just how powerful and perceptive he really is.
Crafty and intelligent, there are few if any who can analyze a battle situation and adjust to do what is necessary quicker and more accurately than him. He tends to do this so that he can know just how much he can slack in a battle, and he has rarely had to display even a portion of the depths of his powers save against 'Old Man Yama' as he calls the Head Captain, his former mentor. Despite all his faults, he is a very honorable person who dislikes fighting, and will search for any means to avoid bloodshed before he draws his sword. When something is wrong he will act against the law in order to make it right, and even when he is not serious, he is a tremendous opponent on the battlefield.

Shikai: Little is known about the released form of Katen Kyokatsu except that together with Captain Ukitake, theirs are the only Zanpaktou that exist as a released pair. In addition, his is the only one that exists as a pair in its sealed form. Some speculate that his Shikai uses wind in some form, which would make sense with the incantation he uses to release it.
Bankai: Not yet revealed (but definitely known)

Affinities: Strong in all four areas, it is likely that his Kido is the strongest suit of his style and that his Hakuda is actually the weakest.
