Name: Byakuya Kuchiki
Age: Over 110 years
Appearance: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Bio: Byakuya Kuchiki is the 28th head of the noble Kuchiki clan, one of the four great noble families in Soul Society. As such, Byakuya acts in an aristocratic manner — he seems always serene and apathetic towards other people, even when he is actually deeply conflicted. He is also extremely calm, even in battle, and is very seldom surprised by even the most drastic of actions. Byakuya is a very perceptive man and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities and usually anything he states in comparison to an opponent is justified. Byakuya strongly believes in law and order. As the head of one of the great noble families and as a Captain in the Gotei 13, he always works hard for a peaceful society. He feels that if someone in his position does not follow the rules as a good example, then no one will follow them. He believes that to maintain the order, all law-breakers must be punished, even if that goes against his own wishes. In spite of his icy and regal manner, Byakuya cares for and protects those important to him. He used to be teased, usually it seems to his annoyance, but still regularly played tag with the older Yoruichi Shihōin using Flash Steps, though he never was able to beat her, a score that upholds to the current time.

Around 55 years ago, Byakuya married Hisana, who was then a commoner from Rukongai; therefore he broke the rules by accepting her into the noble Kuchiki family. Shortly before her death, Hisana asked Byakuya to find and adopt her biological sister, Rukia, whom she had abandoned as a baby. She also made him promise that he would not tell Rukia about her real family, for she believed that by abandoning Rukia when she was younger she was not worthy to be called her sister. One year later, Rukia entered the Shinigami Academy; shortly after, Byakuya found her and immediately adopted her into the Kuchiki clan. By adopting her Byakuya respected his late wife's final wish, but had broken the rules of his clan again. He later swore upon his parents' graves that he would never break the rules again, no matter what. As a result, he, though entirely apathetic on the surface, is actually deeply conflicted with the matter of Rukia's execution: should he intervene, it would require breaking the promise to his parents and the rules again, but should he do nothing he would fail to fulfill the last promise he made to his dying wife to protect Rukia as his own sister.

Zanpaktou Details

Zanpaktou: Senbonzakura
Release Command: "Scatter, Senbonzakura"

Shikai: Senbonzakura's blade separates into a thousand slender tiny blade fragments, which then fly away from the hilt, leaving only the sword's handle in Byakuya's hand(s). The release can be negated before it completes, such as when Yoruichi Shihōin wrapped the blade in cloth during Byakuya's short battle with Ichigo. However, if the release completes itself, then Senbozakura is rendered near-unstoppable as a result. While the blades are supposedly too small to see normally, they reflect light in such a way as to appear as cherry blossom petals. By swinging Senbonzakura's hilt Byakuya can control the blade fragments at will, allowing him to shred opponents at a distance and break through almost any defense.

Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (is essentially a much larger version of Senbonzakura's Shikai. To activate it, Byakuya needs to drop his sword straight down. The sword phases through and then dissipates into the ground and two rows of giant blades (with the back edges facing each other) rise up from the ground behind Byakuya (or around him and his opponent). These then scatter into an infinite number of tiny blades. The number of blades is great enough that Byakuya can use them for defense as well as offense. He commonly forms them into large masses of blades to crush opponents. Like with his Shikai, its attack is triggered with the phrase Scatter. While Byakuya can control the blades with his mind alone, using his hands allows him to do so more effectively, making the blades move (almost) twice as fast.)

Senbonzakura Kageyoshi: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, aside from the ability to freely manipulate the petals, has three special abilities which are listed below...

Senkei: The first which unites the scattered petals into complete swords that form four rows around Byakuya and his opponent in a column-like array. While Byakuya can control these swords as he does his regular blades, he usually attacks with just one in hand. Byakuya claims that the purpose of the Senkei is not to attack from all sides but rather to concentrate his power into fewer blades. Lacking the flexibility of endless blades Kuchiki loses the defensive aspect of Senbonzakura but gains explosive attack power. It seems to take fewer blows from a Senkei blade to exhaust Ichigo than the multiple cuts from the unfocused Bankai. The Senkei also seems to cage himself with his enemy, allowing neither combatant to move very far from each other. After immobilizing an opponent, he can call in the other blades to hit them while they're trapped. It is extremely rare for him to use this ability, doing so only when he has sworn to cut down the opponent with his very own hands. Ichigo was the second being to ever witness the ability. Senkai can be used as a powerful shield, blocking several Cero blasts from Menos-class Hollows at once.

Gōkei: This creates a spherical formation of over 100 million tiny blade fragments which swirl around the opponent as like a cloud, which then collapses into them from every possible angle, leaving no blind spots and no possibility to escape. The resulting shockwave generated by the aftermath of the attack is so powerful that Byakuya himself has to Flash Step away from Gokei's blast area (he is normally immune to the cutting effects of his own Bankai, evident by the fact that he could wield the swords generated by its Senkei formation with bare hands without him getting cut himself)

Shūkei: This condenses each and every single one of his blades into a single, potent sword, drastically increasing its cutting power. Though Ichigo was heavily wounded when he preformed the attack. The blade appears bright white and its aura takes the form of a bird, earning it the name Hakuteiken. Byakuya also grows pure white wings and a halo-like circle in the back, both made of spiritual power. It is unknown whether these wings are merely an aesthetic effect or if they can be used to fly.

Combat Potentials

Fighting Style: Incredibly balanced and masterful in all areas of shinigami combat, Byakuya Kuchiki is a fighter who can excel in any level of battle. Despite not being quite as physically imposing as other Captains, his spells, training, and Zanpaktou make him one of the most difficult enemies to defeat in Soul Society.
Affinities: Strong affinity for all 4 areas of shinigami combat, though the lowest must be Hakuda due to his slightly weaker (by comparison to his other areas) physical strength.

Gaia Avatar: Open
Gaia Name: Open

Name: Renji Abarai
Age: Unknown
Appearance: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Bio: Born in the 78th District of Rukon, Renji grew up with Rukia Kuchiki and a small band of orphaned kids who stole to make a living. Despite having spirit power, he and Rukia stayed with their friends until they all died, and then afterwards enrolled in the Shinigami Academy. Renji was admitted to the top class along with Izuru Kira and Momo Hinamori, who became his friends, and his senpai was Shuhei Hisagi (the four of whom survived a major hollow attack during a training mission thanks to the intervention of Sosuke Aizen). Shortly thereafter, Rukia was accepted into the Kuchiki Clan, and knowing she would receive a better life, he wished her well. Upon graduation, he was taken into the 5th Division by Aizen (who saw his potential), but quickly removed and sent to the 11th Squad because of his unpredictability. There he trained under Ikkaku Madarame until he was at last promoted to Vice-Captain of Squad 6, where he trained endlessly to surpass his Captain and Rukia's adopted brother, Byakuya Kuchiki.

Renji is about as eccentric as any other Shinigami. He varies from smug and cocky in his first appearances to downright angsty and depressed after his major defeats, but shows himself to be an incredibly serious and determined fighter when confronted with an actual challenge. Renji harbours deep affections for Rukia Kuchiki, bordering on romantic love -- he is deeply grieved when she is adopted by Byakuya Kuchiki and later becomes obsessed with saving her. This is proved numerous times throughout the story, particularly during his flashback of his youth with Rukia in Rukongai. Willing to fight, kill, and die for whatever he believes in, Renji is a dangerous man to those who stand in his way.

Zanpaktou Details

Zanpaktou: Zabimaru
Release Command: "Howl, Zabimaru"

Shikai: Zabimaru transforms into an even longer segmented blade; each segment is wider than the one preceding it from the hilt with 2 pick-like protrusions on the front and back of each segment, with the ones on the front much longer than the ones at the back. The segments are connected by a stretchable thread, making Zabimaru more useful as a whip than an actual sword, though it can serve as a regular sword just as easily, thanks to Renji's swordsmanship. Zabimaru's guard and handle pretty much remain the same in its Shikai release. While Zabimaru can be stretched to incredible lengths in its whip form, Renji has a limit of three consecutive attacks before having to bring the segments of Zabimaru back together for recovery - which makes him fairly vulnerable during the time interval. To make up for this, Renji usually relies on Shunpo for evasion as he retrieves Zabimaru's segments. Renji's Shikai, while durable to an extent, can ultimately sustain serious damage the longer the fight drags on. Not that it can't withstand dangerously prolonged combat, but even it has limits in enduring high-level attacks that were conducted by either the enemy or by Renji himself.

Bankai: Hihio Zabimaru

Hihio Zabimaru: a massive version of its Shikai form resembling a skeletal snake. Zabimaru gains many more segments, which are much larger than in its Shikai form, and also gains a snake-like head about the size of a small car. Renji is also slightly transformed, gaining a fur cowl around his neck. The cowl appears to be the fur of an ape and thus, the ape's skull could be seen over Renji's left shoulder while the rest of the fur extends to cover his right arm. Unlike its Shikai, Zabimaru's segments are held together by Renji's spiritual power, allowing him to separate and reattach them at will. The segments themselves are extremely tough, making it extremely difficult to destroy Hihiō Zabimaru. Even if a segment is damaged, knocked off, or even destroyed, Renji can simply detach it and reform (or reconstitute) Zabimaru. Zabimaru itself, in Bankai form, does not literally "cut;" Renji usually catches his opponent with the snake-head of his weapon and smashes his opponent into the ground with it. The head has also proven capable of inflicting heavy damage through biting.

Hikōtsu Taihō after Renji becomes more adept with using his Bankai. The technique fires a dense blast of spiritual energy from Zabimaru's mouth. Unfortunately, the technique costs a substantial amount of energy from Renji which usually causes an aftermath that breaks the segments out of formation. He can also use a much more powerful Higa Zekkō, where all the segments detach, glow and sharpen using spiritual energy.

Combat Potentials

Fighting Style: A specialist in swordsmanship, Renji is quite skilled with his Zanpaktou and can fight on a level with most enemies he might come across on that level. His speed is admirable and his Hakuda is decent, though his ineptitude for Kido often causes his attempts at using spells to backfire and do as much damage to himself as his enemies.
Affinities: Strong affinity for Zanjutsu, minor affinities for Hoho and Hakuda. Very low Kido affinity.
