A secret known only to members of the Special Forces and the higher-ups in the Protection Squads and Central 46, the Detention Center is a forced prison and somewhat of an 'Insane Asylum' for shinigami who either refuse to work for Soul Society, who are considered a menace to Soul Society, or who are too mentally unstable to live peacefully without being incarcerated. The Detention Center is run by the Special Forces officers and overseen by lower-ranked Special Forces members who must take special care to keep certain prisoners from escaping, lest they bring havoc down upon the 13 Protection Squads.
Though most who are incarcerated here are never heard from again, there is at least one notable exception to this rule somewhere in Soul Society...
