'Cause I personally associate horns with imps and trolls rather than demons. I hope that's okay.

Personally, I'm not into the "everything's evil" movement. For instance, I don't think there's anything wrong with reading Harry Potter or trick-or-treating at halloween. That's just my opinion; however, I was wondering if you guys were like that.

Well, personally, I've got no problems with it ... but I'm an old-school D&Der from way back. My biggest objection to Harry Potter and its ilk is the idea of magic being something biological, in the bloodlines. (Well, that, and I have a passionate hatred for fanboy and fangirl cultists. I hear a squee, I break out the swords, and I smite people in the names of good taste and self-restraint.)

Your avatar, hmm ... if I had to complain about your avatar, my only criticism would not be wearing black or wearing horns, but the punk/goth thing. That's it. Heck, if you were in one of my RP guilds, you'd fit right in.

As for "everything's evil", well ... if it leads another into sin or doubt, then yeah, 'tis a no-no. Paul talked about that more than once, as I recall (Romans 14, 1 Corinthians 8 ). On the other hand, this is Gaia; we expect people to look weird. I'd not worry about it too much.

If petting bunnies fills you with the desire to murder or if eating chocolate results in suicidal thoughts, then you shouldn't participate in those activities either. Everyone struggles with different tempations, and there are a million different things that could trigger a tendancy toward a certain sin. But that doesn't make the activity itself intrinsically wrong; it just means that it's a sin relative to certain people, and they should avoid it.

There's nothing wrong with your avi. Having a demonic avi while you're a Christian resembles the gray area of human nature. People forget that those who bask in the light can be evil, whereas those who are swimming in darkness can be good. I mean seriously, Play Shadow Hearts: Covenant. You will see what I mean. :3

xD Well, the game Shadow Hearts 2 is a better example. What's neat is that Light and Darkness are actual elements in the game. :3

no problem whatsoever :3 if your faith is strong enough, i don't think dressing up as something dark with horns would affect it.

I don't know. I think they're insane. If I'm not mistaken, at least one of the six girls felt the way I did about it, but she didn't really talk about it to me.

I dunno. I feel like my church has this implied sense of superiority about it. Like.. they are so separate from the world (as the bible commands of us) that they seem to think they're better in some way.

I'm not speaking for everyone, by the way. My church is very diverse. I'm just talking about the main people within. They have this idea that they are "living right", as opposed to the majority of this world.

I don't believe any Christian reaches that level.

That's what I've heard from those who are the most pioused. They claim they are not of this world, which I find to be a lie. I mean they act all high and mighty but they judge others as if they're God or something.

The problem isn't so much that they judge. I mean, we're supposed to hold one another accountible as christians. It's just that everything they do is so legalisticially biblical that any action outside of that context is pretty much frowned upon.

As for me, I think the heart of your actions is what matters to God; not whether or not they were performed a certain way in the bible days.

For instance, I don't think there's anything wrong with dating. Just so long as you pray about it, you make God the center of the relationship, your parents are okay with it, and you are drawn to each other for the right reasons. That's fine. And there's nothing wrong with spending time with each other in a Godly manner.

My church has a process for what we think of as "dating" that I find completely ridiculous. I mean, if that's what works for you, fine. But it's not required. Some of the extremists even have this crazy notion that you aren't allowed to even go anywhere in public together unless a group of people are with you.

Actually, we do not belong to this world (excerpt John 15:19). And in 1 Peter 2, Peter says that we are strangers in this world, and should abstain from sinful desires.

I'm sure there are other places in the Word that say we are not of this world, those are just two examples. So, it is not a lie. Can we judge non-believers? No. Can we judge fellow Believers? Yes, as long as it is done right.

Oh, and back on topic, does my avatar offend you? I have lots of different ways I can customize it. I'm sure I've done similar things like yours, just been a long time. Except for the "heart eyepatch" at least...
