Demeter's hooves clicked sharply on the ledge as she landed, wings ruffling slightly as she stretched them out before tucking them closer to her body and turning about to look in the direction she had come. Where by the wing feathers was Saturn? she'd been fairly certain he was right behind her when they hit that cloud bank. "Still don't know why exactly we have to move anyways" She exclaimed somewhat impatiently as she glared up at the cloud. "Our old home was perfectly fine - just because the neighboring Griffs were a bit...odd" She continued to huff into thin air.
If Saturn was playing a trick on her she'd kill him..she really would, he knew she hated tricks - especially tricks where he disappeared. Ticked her right off, tail tapping impatiently against the stone she clicked her beak in irritation. There..what was that? was that a flash of red in the sky?...no, no she didn't think so - just some silly avian.

"Patience my dear" Saturn said as he landed softly behind Demeter. Taking a moment to preen his features before tucking his wing in close. He could see her irritation flowing off of her like a river that had risen above it's banks. He moved closer to her, looking out over what would be their new home. "It sure is beautiful."
He intertwined his tail with hers, knowing that the closer he was, the calmer she would be. "I know you're not happy about the move, but consider it a necessary step towards a brighter future for us."

Demeter huffed slightly, scowling at Saturn as he landed behind her, there you see she told herself - he'd been fine the whole time, absolutely nothing to worry about. "Patience is for those who don't care about their future and are content to lollygag through life hoping some force of nature will manage to steer them in the right direction" She argued, not completely placated by his appearance until he twined his tail with hers. Rubbing her head along his shoulder she let out a long sigh.
"I suppose it does look quite nice" She finally relented turning her gaze back out over the land, and hopefully this time things would turn out better then they had in their last home she added silently. But there was no need to bring that up right now. Saturn was right - she ought to be looking towards the future, not dwelling on the past."Perhaps this time things will work out and we'll find some decent Griffs live nearby - instead of that batty old couple from before" she declared - conveniently forgetting that that the so-called batty old couple had been a fair bit younger then themselves and had been quite sane until the combined antics of Demeter and Saturn had driven them over the edge.

He chuckled slightly at her interpretation of patience. "Patience and time are intertwined. You cannot have one without the other. I do not lollygag through life as you so beautifully put it." He nuzzled her softly as her head rubbed against his shoulder. "Everything in nature has it's time and place. We merely follow the path that time places before us and if we are patience we will see the things as they are meant to be seen."
He followed her gaze to look out again at their new home. "It will take some getting used to, but I assure you that this place will be much better than the last." He prayed he could live up to those words, or face the wrath of Demeter when things didn't go quite right.

Demeter only half listened to Saturn's rambling about time and patience, she'd long ago gotten used to his speeches of wisdom...and odds were she'd heard this particular one a time or two before. Stamping a forelimb she dislodged a few pebbles from the ledge and watched them go bouncing merrily down the mountain side, or at least she choose to interpret them as bouncing merrily fore it seemed Demeter's temper had switched from cranky to pleased in less then a heartbeat.
"Of course you don't darling" she responded in a silky voice "I was talking about them obviously" She continued, batting her eyes and then motioning with her head over the cliff and along the sides of the mountain, where no doubt other Hippogriffs nested fitfully.
Since the subject of thier neighbors had been dealt with to Demeters satisfaction she turned about and fixed a critical eye on the cave they had landed in front of. "Is this it then? Or should we look about a little more?"

"Ah yes of course, the others that live their life at natures whim." A small smile had crossed his face as he could see her mood lighten. Yes it was a good thing to have her happy once more. She could be so overly temperamental at times. And yet he wouldn't have it any other way.
His pushed his hoof into a patch of soft dirt, pretending to inspect the area, while thinking of a response to her question. It was after all a trick question, and he had to have the right answer or she would revert back to her frustrated ways. "I am happy with any place you choose." He said while glancing around their immediate surroundings. "If this place is up to your standards then this is where we shall stay. If not, we will continue looking until we find what you want."

Demeter made a small noise of agreement as Saturn correctly interpreted her other's comment - though of course she had meant pretty much any Hippogriff she didn't personally know - Demeter was pretty clear cut in her judgements - there were them - anyone she didn't know and clearly went through life with the wit of a semi-conscious native..and us - those she did know and were obviously far above them in terms of intelligence and civility.
But they were hardly important right now - she would deal with them if and when they ever decided to show up or she got it into her head to go and seek them out. Her tail flicked against the ground as she awaited Saturn's response to her inquiry. She turned her head back to beam at him as he finally did so before dancing off into the caves interior. "Well..it is a bit small..." She called back to him from within, although there was clearly enough room for the two of them with quite a bit of excess. "Is there a water source nearby do you think?"

Saturn chuckled to himself as she ran off to inspect the cave. He did expect some negative comment about it, she would find even the most minor of things to nit pick about. Shaking his head slightly at the comment about it being small he turned to face the cave entrance. "There may be bigger places elsewhere if that is what you want."
He had to think for a moment about her question. He did remember seeing a small lake nearby but he had to make sure it was close enough for her liking. "Yes dear, there is a lake not far. We can go see it if you wish."

There was silence from the cave for a few moments - presumably Demeter was inspecting it throughly, the mere fact that she had not instantly wrinkled her nose and pranced out of the cave declaring it the den of heathens and therefore unsuitable for them was a fairly good sign. Demeter generally made up her mind about such things fairly quickly.
A few minutes after her disappearance Demeter reappeared, peering out from the cave as thought she expected Saturn to have run off while her back was turned. Once she spotted that he was indeed there she sauntered out as though she had expected nothing less. "I suppose it will do - but we should look at the lake to make sure" She declared once she reached his side. "We can't be moving in and then end up drinking from a scummy water pond tomorrow morning after all"

He bowed his head to her slightly, glad that so far that place had pleased her, for the most part at least. Turning he spread his wings out, giving them a quick stretch. "Then let us go see the lake." She said as he lifted into the air will a large push from his wings.
He looked back to make sure Demeter was following closely behind as he made his way towards the lake. Wouldn't do him any good if he lost her during the flight. He glided along the hot air currents at first, taking his time to get there. But then remembered her complete lack of patience and sped up.
Soon he landed at the edge of the small lake. The crystal clean water looked good enough to drink. He watched for a moment some fish swimming about under the surface then bent down to drink. The cool water refreshed him. It was a mountain spring fed lake. You couldn't find a better water source than this, so he believed that Demeter would approve of it.

Bobbing her head slightly in agreement to what she decided to let him believe was his suggestion, but which if he thought about it long enough they would both know was really a necessity and she simply couldn't see how they could not inspect the lake before making their final decision.
Leaping into the air close behind him she nipped at his tail playfully hen he glanced back to make sure she was following - like she would ever do anything else. Who else but her could keep him grounded after all? Why without her Demeter was pretty sure Saturn would go right off the deep end. He needed her.
It was on that thought that Demeter landed by the lake. Inspecting the source of their future water banished whatever thoughts had been ringing about her mind in flight and she cast a critical gaze on it. It looked clear sure, and there didn't seem to be much to complain about at all.
"You don't think its gets too crowded during the day do you?"

Raising his head from the lake he looked at Demeter. Always worried about this or that, he thought. He glanced around the area, noting the number of suitable cliffs that could serve as dwellings as well as the size of lake. "The valley is small. I'm sure it doesn't get too crowded during the day." He almost immediately knew that answer wouldn't be good enough. He took a step closer to her. "There are several other lakes in the area as well. And there doesn't seem to be that many others around here from what I have seen. It will be fine."
He nudged her slightly, his tail flicking around playfully. "Why don't we relax a bit. It's been a long day."

Demeter frowned slightly as she looked about the lake and the surrounding cliffsides - she was on the verge of proclaiming that neither of them really had any idea of just ho many Griffs could live in those caves and for all they knew this place would be teeming with others by morning. Clicking her beak in irritation while she formulated her response. .
Saturn however seemed to know her well enough to preconceive this problem and his secondary answer mollifyed her a bit "well if there are other lakes..." She alloed after a few moments thought beaming at him once more a she ducked down to take a sip from the lake - and as quickly as that proclaiming the area 'good enough' to be their new home. Which was probably a good thing considering she's already vetoed the last four prospective sites.
"I suppose it has"She agreed after a few moments thought, blinking wide eyes at him"But you know its only because I want the best for us" She exclaimed.

As Demeter bend to take a sip from the lake Saturn turned quickly and used his tail to splash water on her. Then with a laugh he took off running, his wings held out slightly. "Oh course you want the best for us," he called out to her. "Because that is what we deserve."
He slowed his gait and turned back towards the lake. He knew she would be mad at him for splashing her, but at the same time he hoped it would ease some of the tension that had gathered in both of them over the move.

Demeter leapt backward as Saturn's little trick doused her with the cold mountain water, shaking the drops off she glared after him with a look of mock betrayal on her face as he galloped off. How anyone could be so incredibly sweet one moment and insufferable the next was completely beyond her...and yet she wouldn't trade him in for anyone else.
"Males!" She huffed out at him as he turned about to face her again - although her tone indicated she wasn't really angry with him."Well..it's what I deserve at the very least!"She told him with a smug look after trotting over this his side and nipping him on the shoulder before darting away.
