WELCOME TO MY HANAMICHI  Geishas, many view them as something mystical, goddesses, immortal beings with impeccable beauty, and ones who never age. They are refined and cultured girls and women who are highly trained in a variety of traditional skills. Besides playing the samisen, singing and dancing, the Geisha perform the Japanese tea ceremony, and are well versed in the art of conversation. The most memorable Geisha of all time was Hayashi, Cho. She was the greatest Geisha in her time, up until she had committed suicide after she had her last performance two years ago. Now her title of greatest Geisha is up for grabs. However, in this matriarchal society, getting famous is not so easy. It’s kill-or-get-killed in this community, and past lives and secret lovers are part of the hidden secrets that lies within a Geisha’s world. But what else lurks underneath this hanamachi’s heavy glamour?

Terms
Dana: Once a full Geisha, a client or Patron of hers, might want to become her Dana. Meaning that the Geisha will serve him in how ever she needs too...and all that applies. Also, the Dana may buy the Geisha gifts, such as jewels… or Kimonos, and support her financially. A Geisha...on regular, a geisha is lucky to have a Dana, only the best Geisha can have up to two. Not at the same time of course.
For requesting a performance:
Request a ‘jikata’ performance– an older Geisha sings and plays the samisen.
Request a 'tchikata' performance- usually a maiko girl performs the traditional Japanese dance.
Maiko: A Maiko is an apprentice Geisha. She must school before she is a Maiko, and must have a older sister which is a Geisha to tutor her, and take her under her wing, to show her how to be a Geisha. Maiko's have a different hairstyle from the Geisha, called the split Peach, and also where a red collar under their Kimono, instead of a white collar like a geisha. A Maiko is a full geisha after she sells her mizuage and turns 21.
Okiya: an Okiya, is a geisha boarding house, usually ran by an older and retired Geisha. The Okiya has its own collection of Kimono, for the Geisha to wear, and is complete with servant girls, who eventually become geishas if they wish, to help with daily life. The owner of the Okiya, will adopt one of her own Geisha, to succeed her, and run the Okiya once she is gone.

Haha! ❀ Remember, pm your profiles to me and title it “Hanamachi”.❀ And please, I beg you, please NO SOAP OPERAS! Of course, drama is allowed, but seriously, do not turn the drama into a long, drawn-out soap opera. It really annoys people, and most won’t be able to rp. So please stay focused more on the idea of the rp. I’ve seen this in many rps lately, and to me it’s like “Dood, when can I step in.” Most people are turned off by that. So I, again, ask of you, no SOAP OPERAS!❀ Please follow Gaia's TOS and keep the rp PG13. ❀ The Rules are subject to change. Tsuki: Oldest of the three main Okiyas. The geisha here are some of the most beautiful geishas here in this hanamachi. But what lies within the dark side of the moon?
Taiyou: Another of the three main Okiyas. Just like the sun, the geisha here can be warm and inviting, but they can also turn into scorching heat because of fierce competition.
Umi: The youngest of the three main Okiyas. In between the pull of both the sun and the moon, the ocean can set a calm and serene setting. But below its dark watery depths, is something that quickly made them one of the best in this hanamachi.

Alleys/Shortcuts: <-- I’d suggest not going there at night alone

About RP/Profiles: ❀ For this rp, marriage arrangements are allowed. The man who would like to marry a geisha must negotiate with the geisha’s okaa-san. (marry only one) Men can also be married to the okaa-san of an okiya, just make sure to notify the ‘mother’ that you would like to marry or already be married to her.❀ Okaa-sans uses the same structure as the geishas/maikos, but there are a few changes within the profile. Check below the geishas layout for the okaasans....❀ Have any questions/ideas about the rp to make it better, or want to change something on your profile, just tell me and I’ll make the changes.❀ If the owner of the Okiya (okaa-san) passes away/murdered, or runs away (<-- the puppet-master of the okaa-san doesn’t come back for a while), she will be replaced by one of the geishas or anyone who registers to be the owner.❀ In this rp, men can only be financial supporters. They cannot own okiyas… sorry. –insert angry mood emote here- But if the owner passes, or runs away, the husband of the okaa-san has temporary control. <-- that’s my rule here. Then the adopted Geisha (the one whom the okaa-san has previously chosen to be her successor) takes control over the okiya.|
