Because every guild needs one. heart Discuss Evolving Items. Which is your favorite of all time? Do you have a favorite EI artist? Which of the newly-available poses do you like best? Did one of your later generation items finally finish evolving and give you access to everything?

I will post my commentary after the report comes out each week. Don't feel obligated to do the same, but you're welcome to if you'd like. Here's the first one, for today's report:

Shadowlegend: It's big and black this time. blaugh Armored Shadow Ninja is enormous but only replaces the torso and up; the Pants pose completes this big guy. The other offerings in this set are a Shadowtech Helmet and Top.

Imaginary Friend: We have now reached Indigo on the ROYGBIV spectrum. Our new friend is Isabelle the Iendigo, and we are also able to use her horns, saberteeth, fur coat, and skin. The fur coat will be the most useful for me; I think it'll work with the Sapphire Plume and Colibri for some interesting combinations.

Checkmate: Today's pose is a creamy visor. I don't usually choose items that cover up my eyes, so I doubt I'll be using this pose much. However, I do like the styling and the color chosen, so I'm eager to see the remaining poses as the week progresses.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:56 pm

Shadowlegend: Still unappealing to me. It's just not my type of EI.

Imaginary Friend: Worthless... and ugly to boot. xD

Checkmate: Pretty so far. Don't have the cash right now, and it's too expensive on the MP. I'll probably snag one, if only for the visor, once I get the funds/succumb to MP listings.

When RIGs came out, I lost interest in EIs. It's sad but true. The last EI I really liked was the Reed really.

I think my all time favorite EI is Fermere's Guard. And, (even if she has caught a lot of flak) Reapersun. Her items are usually really good in detail and design. And, I love all the various poses of the Guard.

Personally, I'm a fan of Ethe, Gem2Niki, Jenzee (Fremere's Guard), Superphi, Fayren Pickpocket, and Buki.

Evolving Items themselves are quite nice, although it feels like, to me, they've been offering less over time and putting a higher price tag on it. I don't know if they're phasing out the quality in lieu of RIG items or not. Either way, I'll most likely continue to buy EI's and MP buy the items from the RIG's.

I got behind again. redface

EIR for July 16th~ Secret Retreat, Checkmate

Secret Retreat: Blue Babydoll is a diaphanous negligee. Blue Babydoll Panties are tiny and preppy. Chaps is this weird pose that doesn't cover up your underwear; I hate this type of pose, but the pearly cream color will be pretty popular with some. Pillows for lounging are available in Blue or Red. Sexy Toned Body is available in two shades, one designed for lighter and one for darker avatar bases.

Checkmate: This Rapid EI finished very quickly. eek Let's take a look at its offerings. 15 poses total. 4 are body modifications for arms or legs; I will never use these. I like the White Pawn's Belt but have something very similar both in Dappy Dandy and in Secret Retreat. White Queen's Counter, the full, long, lavish hairstyle, is the most popular pose I have seen around. Black Pawn's Stand, the poofy "pants" pose, leaves the crotch exposed in a most inelegant fashion; what on Earth can the artist have been thinking? gonk A visor, a chestplate, a mask, a tabard, two crowns, and a weapon complete the offerings. This item did not stick with the colors it seemed to promise at the beginning and ended up with a number of poses which are either difficult to work with or unattractive to me. I am selling mine. I would consider purchasing a future item by this artist, but I have a strong preference for the normal avatar base and abhor body modifications.

EIR for July 23rd~ Timmy, Case of Pietro, Compass of Seidh

Timmy: Hm, still boring and sad but in a creepy way.

Case of Pietro: Hooray! It evolves again! The Barista's Hair and the Bartender's Hair look like very usable wigs. Then there's the damage done by the collision: a broken nose (bandaged or unbandaged), bruises, scars, blood, bullet wounds, and a crutch. A cartoon shoutout "No!" and Queen's Warning, a trick (?) coffin completed the pose set offered in the report. This item does have one new additional pose, though: The Cake of Pietro, a very beautifully decorated sheetcake celebrating the item's one-year anniversary on Gaia. xd

Compass of Seidh: ethe brings on the big finish~! User Image This item had had 75 poses before this evolution, which added 52! It's astounding! I am not going to review every single pose. xd The Ostara set are mint, white, and pink; not my style, but I'm sure many Gaians will love them, especially the bunny ears. 3nodding Freya's chariot and her cats that pull it. The Freya poses are in fiery colors. I especially like her laurels, staves, gloves, and the Brisingamen. Odin's set is dark and black; as he gives us two eyes, he must not yet have purchased wisdom. wink Hugin finally appears, so Munin isn't lonely anymore. The Spring poses fill out the former Yellow Bloom set. We also get an adorable small wyvern. whee This item has been fantastic throughout, and I can't wait to see what ethe will decide to make for us next.

Breaking News Today~ A brand new Evolving Item appears! Forteanagoria promises us glimpses of the paranormal. Cryptozoology, alien visitors and sci-fi folklore are named as influences. What do you think? I had to get this one for the fir forest background; I am thankful it comes with or without the paranormal "extras". xd

Secret Retreat: The toned abs is useful. Now if only we had more tops that end right below the bust line so you can see the abs clearly. The other items aren't my cup of tea. The negligee top is cute... but not as versatile as I'd hoped it would be.

Checkmate: Nice 'nuff. I bought one for the hair and that awesome visor. Otherwise, it's useless to me.

Case of Pietro: Still have one and I still don't see much use for it. Although, the Cake of Pietro is so funny I might use it for a lulz factor avatar.

Compass of Seidh: I absolutely hated it... until the last evolution. The Freya set makes me drool all over myself. I'm glad I got one so I can have Freya's eyes. Also, the tiny little wyvern is just so cute. I don't think I'll be using hardly any of the poses save for the Freya set and maybe the... the bunny one. xD

Timmy: Who cares?

Forteanagoria: It has Drinky Tengu written all over it. not a fan of her EI's (too saturated in colour). I'll see where it goes and make my judgment on wanting one later on.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:31 pm

Shadowlegend: The finale gives a set of I Am weapon poses. I hope they correct the spelling of "Scythe"; it just doesn't work without the "c"./Discworldfan Hm, these might make for some interesting avatars if they layer with other poses well. All in all, I am glad I didn't invest here, as this EI was not my style. However, the variety of fighter poses granted seems sufficient to warrant investment if that's your style.

Imaginary Friend: Velvet the Violet Velociraptor is this week's friend. We get a companion, her legs, her tail, her skin, and a Feathered Bolero. I think the bolero will be pretty useful to me, even though it's short and sleeveless, which makes it more like a capelet. whee The best news for me about the Imaginary Friend this week is that this was not the finale. That means I have at least one more pose set to anticipate, and it will possibly revert to the wispy rainbow theme that enticed me to purchase this item in the first place. blaugh

Pistolera: This is a rapid evolver, so it'll add a pose each Tuesday and Friday. It started with two poses: A low-slung Inventory Bag and a C-Class gun you can hold. Today's update adds a Quest Available icon above your avatar's head. I like the way this story is going so far; unfortunately, I think I'll still be hungry for more poses and more plot when it is finished (which has been the case with all of the Rapids so far).

Secret Retreat: The mirror's image reflects red and black instead of blue and gold! This explains the appearance of the second color of pillows in the previous evolution. The new poses are Hair de Morte, Possessed Eyes, Fallen Wine, Red Babydoll, Red Babydoll Panties, Secret Essence, and the aforementioned Mirror. I really like the mirror. The rest of the poses don't interest me much this time. I don't enjoy skimpily-clad avatars. However, Gaia's new trick seems to be making pants that don't cover up our underwear gonk , so I foresee that I'll have to use this item's underwear poses a lot. stare

Timmy: Still weird and slow. I'm glad I didn't pick one up.

Pistolera: Tuesday showed the Boar (Collect Boar Teeth) that was the object of the first quest. Once the boar is defeated, a new pose is revealed: The dead Boar grants Ms. Pistolera +25 XP! Nice! Today adds a versatile Jerkin as the first quest's prize. blaugh A great design with just enough ornamentation, I think this pose will remain popular for warriors of many stripes. This is still a fun story, and I'm enjoying the less-hectic pacing of the slower rapid evolver.

Forteanagoria: Crop circle time~! blaugh I was afraid I wouldn't like anything after the initial forest pose went away, but I actually like quite a bit of this new pose set. The Crop Circles background is interesting without being super-ominous. The shirt looks really cool to me; we have very few highly-detailed patterns for shirts. The Announcement seemed also to show a pair of pants which is not showing for either gender. confused I am unlikely to use the tattoos or the halos myself, but I know other Gaians who will find them delightful. All available poses come in two color schemes, a dusty type of spring green and a murky, inky teal sort of color. I like both of these colors a lot.

I love the Imaginary Friend. I love a lot of EI's. I like that there are a ton of items bundled in them. All those 'evolutions' make them very versatile and I like items that multi-task.

I use EI's regularly. That being said, I only like about half of them.

Pistolera has that fabulous hair but I'm waiting to see if there is anything else I like about it. I took a chance on the Luminera Noir because it already has two things I like in it.

I just picked up the Compass of Siedhe and keep finding things in it that I like.

I don't like the Timmy EI at all.

I'm looking to pick up a Checkmate but not a fan of Secret Retreat or Case of Pietro.

II Tenth Doctor II
This needs updated again. Imaginary friend reached it's finale.

Sorry; school started, so I'm getting used to a major schedule change. sweatdrop I hope to update on Saturday.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:07 am

. . . And, here it is ~

Well, I got behind since the university semester has started and for one of my classes I am having to revise just about everything. sweatdrop I do love my job, but it got extra-time-consuming. Anyway, here are the summaries for the weeks I missed:

EIR for August 20 ~ Pistolera & Imaginary Friend

Pistolera: New leggings. And a treasure chest! But wait! It's a Mimic! Oh no, now you have to fight it! xd

Imaginary Friend: I had been expecting the finale for this week, but instead a new color appears. The artist has labelled it Pink, although it is in the salmon/coral part of the range, not the standard magical-girl range. The companion is Pavlov the Poodle, and we also get the hair, the tail, the skin, and the tailcoat.

EIR for August 27 ~ Pistolera & Secret Retreat

Pistolera: Two more quest rewards (Shoulder Guard and Boots), and a whole slew of prizes for levelling up: A-Class Pistol Blade, Feather Hat, Bolera Sleeves, Pistol Belt, Gunner's Hair. At the end comes Soul Healer: Game Over. This item had a fun story, and I think a lot of Gaians will use it often.

Secret Retreat: Cloaks and chains this time. I like both the long and the short cloak, and I'm glad to have the option not to wear the hood. This is the first pose set with no food or drink.

EIR for September 3 ~ Timmy & Lumiere Noire & Forteanagoria

Timmy: More Timmy. Very slowly, the grub evolves.

Lumiere Noire: This black and white tale of star-crossed lovers is another Rapid EI. It began with a white staff bearing a lantern and a black crescent moon background, both of which seem excellent and versatile. Today it adds Disguise at the Ball, a fancy slashed white cloak.

Forteanagoria: This is the sasquatch pose set. The misty woodland appears as a background without a monster, with the monster off in the distance, or with the monster up close. My Pal Bigfoot, Big Feet, and the Sasquatch Skin complete this set. I will use the background very often, but the remainder of the poses aren't my style.

EIR for September 10 ~ Lumiere Noire & Imaginary Friend

Lumiere Noire: Tuesday's evolution added the Balcony Stockings, and today's gives Lover's Embrace Shirt. Perhaps these two will find true love after all. . .

Imaginary Friend: Named "Reunion", today's pose set bring us the vibrant conclusion of this friend-packed EI. We gain Roberto's Wheel, Orlando's Legs, Yanto's Wings, Gertie's Tail, Ba'quirr's Deep-Set Eyes, Isabelle's Ears, Velvet's Feather Fascinator, and Pavlov's Pants. There are three more new poses, too: a Rainbow Halo, Rainbow skin, and Everybody. I am the most excited about the cute goldish wings. whee

EIR for September 17 ~ Lumiere Noire & Secret Retreat

Lumiere Noire: Nope, it's not gonna get a happy ending. This week's ominous poses started with the Cousin's Mourning Hat on Tuesday and added Poison Fields and Rose Dagger today. Ah, for love! Ah, for destiny!

Secret Retreat
: A mini-evo gives us Candles, surrounding the avatar with red candles, and Capsule, some kind of mysterious container. I wonder what it contains. . .

And that's it so far. I'm disappointed with the new emphasis on Cash Shop bundles and the lack of breadth in the EI Report. I had really hoped for a new $10 EI from ethe this week, since the Compass finished some time ago. I really miss the feeling of being involved in a long-running story told by a high-end Evolving Item.

Another Friday has come and gone, so it's time for another EIR Commentary:

Timmy: Well, folks, we already knew where this EI's story was going to go, even if we didn't realize that it would take this long.

Lumiere Noire: Tuesday's evolution gave us the Ascension Forms of Lumiere and Noire, special skins that also have a heart and closed eyes. Today's evolution finishes the story of these two, adding a tophat, a dress, a coat, and boots. We also receive Noire's moon lantern and Lumiere's light moon. This item had a fun story, and I think that the poses will be used often by those who enjoy monochromatic avatars.

Forteanagoria: This is the first set of poses not offering a background. Aw. This time we have the Mothman poses, including a companion, the companion flying, creepy glowing eyes, and feathery armwings. We also meet Mr. Cold, of Lanulos, who provides companionship, a a jacket bearing an interesting pattern, and a leg-modifying bottom-equip item.

Still no new $10 EI. I am at least hoping that the next REI doesn't contain any white, black, red, or gold (or pink. I'm allergic. xd ). I would like to see another using the alchemy theme, and I think a Harvest Moon-like gardening theme would also be pretty cool.
