I love this board. Not only is it a tech help board for all of your needs, no matter how advanced, the sub-board is for discussions of a technical nature from toasters to networks, though most topics are generally computer related.
It's a shame no one who truly seeks technical discussion goes there, because they don't know it exists, and instead go to the CB or science board.

I admit, I tend to avoid it, just because I find it intimidating. I need to work on that though, as I am a bit of a nerd xD
- web developer in real life, passion is in software/web dev -
- also got top of his degree when he graduated this year -

Mister Leo I admit, I tend to avoid it, just because I find it intimidating. I need to work on that though, as I am a bit of a nerd xD - web developer in real life, passion is in software/web dev - - also got top of his degree when he graduated this year - The only thing intimidating about it is if you start to be a showoff and/or start spewing bull. We're quick to call it out. We have people from all walks of the tech world. Networking experts (professional*) Programmers Web developers Linux gurus Windows gurus etc. etc.
Really, we're quite friendly (except a select few, but that's with any board) and even have an admin-sanctioned chat-thread for if the tech talk gets boring or at a standstill. In fact, there's a few of us who have been discussing when you'd start making your home in the C&T, because we're aware that you're sure as hell smart enough to understand what's going on. *We have one guy who's very blunt, and sometimes comes off as trolling, but is a programming genius. We have another who is a former Microsoft employee. Worked as a developer for Bing. Like, one of the guys who wrote it's core, I believe, not one of the guys who made it all pretty or did bugfixes.

xD
I'm a person who can be out-talked easily. Like, sales people can go around my completely trying to tell me all sorts of s**t.
I had a brain spasm when buying my router, we're on cable not ADSL and I bought a router with the adsl modem built in, so obviously it didn't work. Taking it back (to get a router, since we had the cable modem already) they tried claim it'd work fine. Yeah not really >.>
Luckily my flatmate is the loudmouth sort and we'd previously decided exactly what we needed.

Anyway, you're serious when you say you have passion for software, aren't you? lol No offense intended by that comment <_<; Easily overlooked feature in a hybrid router.

It's pretty standard here, call it "roommate". Like Joey & Chandler in Friends (but not so much of a couple xD)

That's because they're generally called "flats" here. You flat in a flat. You go flatting in a flat with flatmates. I always find "roommate" weird when you're not sharing a bedroom.

^^' Yeah... I tried to do a lil bit of training in Computers and Technology. I'm not the best when it comes to tech, I mean come on, I'm using Vista on a stupid Acer laptop -.- Mistake number one...
I wouldn't call myself a complete idiot though. Give me a device I can normally find out what it does within five minutes. I'm a camera junkie though, not a computer junkie.
>.> I could also tell you how certian stuff works within a Transformer, but I don't think thats relevant for the forum seeing as they don't exist -dies a little inside-.
Out of all the forums I've been in though I think it's the most behaved, I sat there for a few hours just watching for threads that wern't allowed or that were on the done to death list and I think I only managed to find two that were against the R&G.

Ok, so here's something computer related. We don't have unlimited Internet plans here, we only have a few ISPs and they've found it infeasible (namely, unprofitable and are big jerks).
So I'm on cable with a 20gb cap per month, shared with my flatmates. That's fine.
Yesterday, our goods/service tax changed, so my ISP decided to change all of its plan, and they bumped us up to the 40gb plan automatically. We didn't get any notice about this, so we called to find out about it.
We asked how much exactly would the 40gb plan cost compared to our old 20gb, because if it was a lot more we were going to b***h.
Here's the kicker. It costs $9 less. I can't figure it out, but I'm happy to stay with it. More for less? Yes please!

LOL idc wat u say if i like i i like it i wanna post it I can...honey A) Not your honey. B) I didn't say you couldn't post it. C)I think they suck because it's limited by iOS. For tablets, I'd much rather have Android, if I can't get a full OS like Windows or a more advanced Linux install.
