Your post has so many double negatives I'm confused as to what you're trying to say. But, I doubt any of the metal forum regulars think glam and hair bands are actually metal. A few trolls or n00bs might try to say so but they get shot down pretty quick in there.

I think you guys should listen to cheese metal more often too. I suggest a band called Mozzarella. Edam are a good band too.

Mike - Myth of Lampshade Mostly a refrence ot the extreme hatred of Glam and Hair Metal's being called Metal in there- I for one believe they are in denial and htink of the stuff as metal but hey, flame me if you want.
=) You must be talking about a metal forum on a different site. Nobody on the Gaia metal forum says "Hair Metal" is an actual genre.

=) Perhaps if you grew up in the time that I did, you would know that 80's hair bands were considered metal at the time. Just a little tid bit of information I thought I'd throw out there.

Stole my words. (Though I was born in the 80's, don't remember much). But I would consider them a genre of metal. Back the ******** off people. biggrin

So was AC/DC, Blue Cheer (sp?), Alice Cooper, and Led Zeppelin none of which today fall under the term metal. Just because it was dubbed metal back in the 70's and 80's doesn't mean it still applies as the term itself has taken on characteristics that make it it's own genre of music rather then just a split off from rock.

Just because it's not the same as your nu-metal or death metal or speed metal doesn't mean it isn't metal. Learn to respect where your music came from. Without these 80's bands, nothing you listen to today would exist.

Without these 80's bands, nothing you listen to today would exist. AC/DC is now called Hard Rock, Alice Cooper is Shock Rock, Led Zeppelin is Classic Rock, and Blue Chear is all but forgotten but is just regular rock when push comes to shove. And these are the now widely accepted terms.
No current metal music draws roots from Hair Metal, as it is in essanse hard rock with some flamboyancy thrown in on top of it. It just doesn't match up to the current deffinition of metal (and while we are at it neither does nu-metal) falling it into a rock catagory, regardless if by itself it is called hair metal.
