This story is rated PG-16. It is not suited for those who are not able to handle violence or the delicate nature I will be writing about... Yes, I will be following Gaia TOS and of course, the rules of WoM. No, I will not soften the story anymore so than I will already be doing. I apologize ahead of time for anyone who does read this and gets offended. Yet, this story is my own and I will not back down from my idea or change any of the situations that may occur.
Simply put. If you have a weak constitution, do not go any further.

Lightning flashed across the night sky one last time before relenting it to the moon and stars. The rain, once beating its own rhythm into the hard ground, was now so sparse that a grown hippogriff could walk between the drops. A final roll of thunder and the fierce summer storm was over. Slowly, the valley and woods began to return to normal with nocturnal animals returning to the pattern of life that they knew... A rolling mist started from the woods and made its way across the valley towards the mountains; it was thick enough to hide anything that would need concealing from beast or nature.
It would be a night for change.

Kore startled awake. She had become quite the heavy sleeper since birthing three eggs. It seemed that the very task of motherhood had sapped away her strength. Perhaps, this was the price to pay for the gods blessing them with eggs-soon to be hatchlings. The shells were almost rock hard and almost pulsed with the urge to make an appearance in the world. Heliacle and Kore had names two- Lilly Aurora and Lukas, the maroon egg and the purple with gray. Only their golden and purple child remained...but naming was not of great importance: making sure the young were healthy was... Kore counted heads and eggs; she found that everyone was where he or she was supposed to be-
Blinking liquid gold eyes in confusion, the royal purple 'griff wondered what could have disturbed her slumber. Moving the eggs around and resettling herself, Kore prepared to head back to sleep. She felt foolish for being so jumpy.
As her eyelids grew heavy, a shrill cry that cut to the bone echoed across the mountainside. Kore's head shot up and her coat bristled. Feathers were raised in warning as instinct reacted to the danger. Carefully, the female hippogriff got up and walked to the cavern's edge. The opening faced the valley though it was still a long way off. At least, by walking or running; by flight, it was a sun mark's time at most. Keen eyes searched for any danger but found naught in the night sky. Hissing deep in her throat, Kore could not believe she was acting like a silly clutch by jumping at sights and sounds that were not there. Tiredly, she began to head back to her nest.

Just before she lay down, the shrill cry echoed again. Her head shot up and golden eyes searched fearfully for the origins of the cry. Amazingly enough, none of her family awoke. Kore thought about waking them up but could not bring herself to do it.
Thinking about her other options, she wondered if she could contact Calamity or Kiyoshi. But they had their own children to worry about....
No, she would have to do this herself. Reluctantly, Kore walked back to the cavern's edge and glared into the darkness. Whatever was out there, she would take care of it and then go back to her family.

She spread her impressive amethyst wings out and simply dropped off the cliff. Not paying any mind to the fact that it was dangerous as it was exhilerating, Kore opened her wings at the last minute and beat up. There was a stranger in her home and she would take care of it.
After all, that was the job of a shamaness. To protect her own and her clan.
That and other duties.
Kore began to scout out what she considered her clan-her family's boundries. Oddly enough, as she flew in the valleys and dips of the mountians, lightning struck though there were no clouds.
"What is going on? I shall find you and defeat you," she whispered to herself.
