So, as many of you know, my baby is dying.
my baby being my car that is, the 93 Mercury Sable that has been dubbed "Barney" because of its purpleness and dinosaur like qualities (ie, just about EXTINCT). Well, it is just about time for Barney to Go to the Big Car Lot In The Sky. So I am shopping to replace it.
I've driven a few, looked at a BUNCH, and I think I'm going to make an offer on a 96 Volkswagon Jetta...because I really liked driving it, it's in amazing condition, and the only thing wrong with it was the lack of Antilock Braking.
Anyway.....I have until Tuesday to make a real decision, since the guy selling is gone on holiday, and I'm the only person who has looked at it (thank you boeing classifieds!).
so, discuss:
The Big Car Lot in the Sky buying a car used cars the death of barney .....anything else. we are in an off topic forum, after all. blaugh

There is no bigcar lot in the sky! gonk For cars it's more like.....reincarnation... SC isn't that into cars v_v.....*outcasted* Used cars, however, pwns new.....just like goodwill pwns name brand...a lot Barney the car will be missed...(he'll be in mah prayers? o.o) The dinosaur, however, is another story *squinty eyes*
Oh and I hate it when people waste money on big cars that are meant for off road...SUVs They waste all the gas and everyone else has to pay a furtune for gas >.>....those BIG trucks are also dumb >.>.....if you're not going to use the car for the purpose it was designed...DON'T USE IT AT ALL!.....*looks at the road, sees the 5 SUVs for every 1 other type of car....becomes enraged...*

I LOVE SUVs. Seriously. My Dad just bought a new 06 Explorer, and when my car is crappy, I'm cruising in a 95 Explorer. I wouldn't want to own one, because they are crappy commuter vehicles. But they are SO fun to drive....particullarly for my dad, since he spends alot of time driving in the mountains. They are actually a better vehicle for him....Sedans aren't his style, and he would have gotten it stuck SO MANY TIMES....lol

One of the oddities of being me and my size, I like small cars. First car was a '79 Mach 1 Mustang(Ghila), and as many know, my current car is a Seksi SEKSI Dodge Stealth. both have less than a foot clearance from teh ground(low center of Gravity), and had engines that carried more Torque and Horsepower than most Trucks on teh Market.
There are drawbacks to driving these cars, though.
You may assuem comfort. No, the seats in my Stealth are teh most comfortable that I have ever had. The drawback is that when you check your sideviews and FORGET TO CHECK YOUR BLINDSPOT in an SUV, you cannot see these cars. And as such, I fear for my life on a daily basis because these yuppies that wouldn't dream of getting dust on their new 4-wheel drive pleasure cruiser cannot learn to drive their Diesel and steel behomeths like a normal person.
not quite an end rant just yet, I could go all day, I just need to get ready for an important something today.

nice car. i was thinking of getting a Jetta because they look pretty sweet, but i'm thinking now of the Yaris liftback. mostly because it's fairly cheap. MSRP is around $11,000. my parents are making me pay for insurance and a car. ;_______;

I actually really like the Yaris. They are cute!
@Pirate--just because my dad sees the need to have an SUV (and honestly, it keeps him from being too big of an idiot in the mountains) doesn't mean I want one....hello? I prefer to get good gas mileage in an enviornmentally friendly car...such as my own!

Awesome. I love Jettas. I have a '91 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Lovely thing, but he's slow with acceleration. He's brilliant though! Buuuut, my dream cars are a Mini Cooper S, a Ford Mustang Convertible, a Ford GT40, and heck, let's throw in a Bugatti Veyron! whee EDIT: Check this out! I've seen it on the telly before, but... man... I want that car! eek surprised heart
