Woot, okay, so. For those of you who don't know, Rappelz is a completely free MMO with pleasing aesthetics and decently entertaining gameplay. Today is it's last day of beta, and it goes live on 11/3/06. It'll still be free, however!
Now, I got Takai to join, and my girlfriend as well. I just have to help 'em through it because it is frusterating that you have to figure out what to do, as opposed to being guided through it automatically!
Firstly, if you want to play, go and download the game from the
Rappelz website. This game doesn't eat a whole lot of space.
After you're all signed up and stuff, you can create a character... or twelve. Takai and myself are on the non-PvP server called Tortus.
When you start playing, you should immediately talk to the NPC guide in your area. If you didn't do this, you can always go back and talk to them. If you don't do this, everytime you level up from level five and on, you will be transported to a big laggy town, specific to your race. So do this, and do at least one quest. It's not hard, nor long. If you go through with all the sequential training quests, you will level up rather quickly, and learn the basics of the game, as well as be rewarded useful items. You might want to try it.
Anyway. I am personally interested in role playing on the game, and once I am level 20, I would like to start a guild in the game for RPing purposes. So if any of you would like to join me, that would be great. ^_^;
I have three characters on the Tortus server:
Nessan - She is my main. An Asura female.
Deirdre - A Gaia female.
Kujin - A Deva female.
You can send me a tell that I will... hopefully notice by typing my name in the short field before the dialogue box in your log window, then typing your message in said feild. If I don't respond, I probably didn't notice, and I apologize. Spam the hell out of me until I do respond, or send my cell a text or something. Some of you might remember that number! (My GF will kill me for giving that out of course. ^.~)
There will be some maintenance today at 5:00 PM PST. Not sure how long it will last, but I would suggest waiting a while to create your characters.
Once you get the hang of it, it's a pretty fun MMO.
Basic stuff you might need to know:
-You should accept at least one quest if you don't want to be inconvenienced from level 5+. Do so by talking to the guide NPC in your area.
-To equip, open your items menu with alt+i. It is a drag 'n drop system.
-Right click to move.
-Left click to adjust camera.
-alt+q to check quests.
-alt+s to check/learn skills.
-ctrl+alt+F4 to logout.
-alt+t to view basic commands.
-F1 to attack selected target
-F12 to sit/stand (you heal faster sitting, but your HP always regenerates no matter what)
