Intro and Winning Entry
Here in these tattered pages are the records of a pirate named Raguel. I won him in a Pirate Event! He's a one stage pet and an elven pirate on the ship Madness of Hades.
Winning Entry Pirate entry
“Come on lads!! Keep it moving!! Keep it moving!! We’ve got to get the sails at full to catch the wind! Less you boys want a good keel hauling!”
Raguel’s voice rang out despite the constant shuffle of feet on the boards of the deck. His voice was loud but full of authority. He took no lip from a member of the crew lest his words be worth the effort. With his one good eye he kept a sharp watch on the boys in the rigging to make sure they were tying those ropes properly and that the fools didn’t break their neck. As he watched them, he remembered his rigging days, back when he first joined Caspian’s crew. A life of grace and elegance did not suit him and bored him to tears. Very often in the ballroom he could be seen trying to start a fight with another boy his own age. A blue eye glanced out over the ocean as he remembered his youth. He was young, bright, and willing to follow his captain to the end. When he had first seen the ship, he had imagined himself a dashing rogue charming the ladies and easily outwitting his pursuers. After many knocks and bumps, his dream was dissolved. But Captain Caspian wouldn’t let his enthusiasm die out. With his words of wisdom and occasional witty retort, he set him straight and helped him grow up a little bit.
“I’m going to be the greatest pirate ever, Captain Caspian!”
“Well kid, to be the greatest, you gotta start at the bottom.”
And the bottom he did start in. He lugged bilge water from the bottom of the hold, he cleaned out the gunnery, and he even had to play maid in some of the older pirate’s bedrooms. But he had learned a great deal about his fellow pirates this way and used his knowledge to better himself in the eyes of his peers. His first battle with another ship really forced him to look at what he wanted in life. He had been clashing swords with an older, more experienced pirate when he was suddenly knocked over board. The blood from the dead had attracted the sharks and one decided his shoulder would make a nice bit of supper. Through sheer courage and strength of will he managed to get the shark off of him and back up onto the ship. By that time the other ship was subdued and the others looked upon him with horror. But the Captain, ah he just smiled and told Raguel that the Lady of the Sea must truly love him to let him survive an attack such as that. Even now his shoulder gave him an occasional bit of trouble but it was a lasting reminder how to live your life. At any moment it can be taken away either by sword, by disease, or by time. It made him smile a bit to think about his long recovery, and all the trouble he caused while still trying to do his job. But right now he had his orders and the ship had to get sailing. He barked more orders and gave his strength to help pull up the anchor. He heard a few of the sailors talking near by.
“For a guy with one eye, he sure holds a good rank. What makes him so much better than the others?”
“He lost that eye in a battle, but the other guy was much worse. I hear he didn’t even kill so he would be forced to live with the humiliation.”
“He didn’t kill him? Just to make him humiliated?”
“Yeah, guy was laughing about hurting a woman for his own pleasure. Must have gotten Reguel’s blood boiling.”
Raguel laughed a bit to himself, he remembered that fight. Another witty remark from Captain Caspian had followed. Something about if seeing is believing then he must have a strong faith in myself and my morals to give up an eye. And he did have faith in himself; he reminded himself daily that only the winners have scars. The losers are dead. Now Raguel was a man…er..adult as it were and he was ready to take on his responsibilities. Sure he dreamed of becoming a captain one day, but first he needed to learn all aspects of the ship. So far his duties had only been the physical kind, but as Bo’sun eh was learning how to regulate authority and handle a group of cut throats. Each one was different and each one had their virtues and faults. He had to learn how to deal with each fault and how to reward their virtues. Their personalities were different so he had to see who worked best with whom and who needed a good swift kick in the poop deck to motivate them.
“Alright lads!! Keep those sails full! We’ve got to make up time lost!”
Raguel looked out over the ocean and wondered what the future held for him. He knew what his past held, his body bore the scars of each mistake and each lesson he survived. Even the tattoo on his arm was a lesson in courage and pain. He had gotten just after Captain Caspian had been captured. Somehow he had gotten into town and was about to check up on his errant captain and the man’s mate. Afterwards, he nearly got caught by the guards and hid in the local tattoo parlor. To prove his loyalty and make himself a real fighter, he spent hours in the chair getting a very painful tattoo. He wouldn’t take a break, he wouldn’t rest, he got the entire tattoo that night. It was just another scar, another notch in his belt, another ring in his life’s growth. As the ship headed into the distance, the Bo’sun of the Madness of Hades stared out with a pale eye, ever watchful for his next lesson in life aboard his ship.

History Birth Raguel was born a b*****d child to a young elfen woman named Calistina whom was a courtesan in Jareth's court. His mother had no idea who his father was as she was well known at the time to court many men. Jareth actually knows who Raguel's father is but was asked never to reveal his identity by the father's wife. Calistina was a fan of human literature, specifically religious text. It was there she found the name Raguel, the catholic Angel of Justice. She felt her son deserved to be treated as more than a fatherless child so she hoped his name would influence his life. She did love her child so, and thought him the most handsome boy in the entire land. Childhood In a world where social standing makes or breaks you, Raguel was already off to a bad start. His mother was unmarried and his father was a mystery. He was picked on mercilessly by the other children of the court and his mother was treated likewise by the ladies of the court for her scadelous ways. Raguel could take them insulting him, but not when they made comments about his mother. Many times he would be hauled infront of Jareth or some other authority figure for beating up one of the other children for insulting his mother, or beating up the son of a woman who insulted his mother. Even as a child he was a strong fighter and developed a reputation for being a violent child. His mother soon grew frustrated with his constant fights and their own arguements could be heard through out the Labyrinth. He claimed to be defending her honor, but she would counter that a proper man would defend with words not his fists. But Raguel was not one for words, he wanted action. A future in the Goblin King's court did not please him. Teen Years As Raguel entered his teen years his mother attempted to prepare him more for court life. He took dancing lessons and was taught proper ettiquette. But he still continued to get into fights. But one day in a ballroom he heard of the fearsome pirate, Caspian Aurelius. Once the man stood with the Goblin King in this court but now he roamed the seas as a pirate. The more Raguel thought about it, the more he began to see his life moving out onto the ocean. When Caspian came into port, Raguel met with him and begged the pirate to take him away from the dullness of court. Caspian must have saw something in the young elf and agreed to take him. His mother was very upset and tried to force Raguel to stay, but he slipped away and joined up with the crew. A Pirate's Life The Beginning Bo'sun
